Saturday YouTube...

...wouldn't have minded it if they had been moving the ball.

I was at that game...

and man was it awesome…I remember the “CITRUS BOWL” bubble letters and the Santa Claus hat on the Mickey Mouse water tower like it was yesterday. My cousin and I were 13 when we went with my grandparents, spent the week in Disney and sat by ourselves for the first time at a game (usually sat next to them in T-Town/B’ham). Easily one of the best weeks of my life. This was also the same year I saw my first Iron Bowl. You truly captured me and sent me to a warm happyland with today’s YouTube, well done sir, and thank you.

First, was that Gus Johnson calling the game?

Second, why don’t coaches wear suits anymore? It’s a good look.

…why don’t coaches wear suits anymore?

Big time clothing contracts. It simply wouldn’t do to have Coach Saban in a suit when Nike is shelling out all of that money for him to be in Nike gear.

One of the best things

about that game was that after the game Jay Barker came back onto the field and saluted the Alabama fans still cheering in the stands. It was his last game, what a leader. He was just a little short of winning 2 NCs.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Oh Jay

I remember you saluting the crowd on your walk out…

I miss number 7 every day

my dreams are filled with your christian rock songs and your comeback win against Georgia

First Post

I have been a lurker for a while………this brought such good memories back to me that I had to sign up and comment

I remember we had a big party for that game and the celebration that ensued after Sherman started shaking was one of the happiest I can remember while watching a game on tv……..It was almost enough to make me forget about the hose job we got in the SEC Championship Game that year………almost……..

This gives me mixed feelings

Great win, but seeing Randy Ross, a man whose recruiting decisions and direction hurt our program dearly in my (and a whole lot of other’s) opinion boils my blood. He was part of our old system and it’s not a coincidence that once we got a real coach in here he was one of the first people to “leave” the football program.

MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--

BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

A

rare but brief smile from the always stoic Stallings.

I don't get that...

…Stallings always seemed like a hardass on the sidelines, but he was always affable during interviews and seemed like a genuinely good man.

That

baffles me as well. He always had the old school hardass persona on gameday, but if you hear his players describe him, they always say he was a “player’s coach.” Maybe he was a softy at heart.

Gene Stallings is not a mere man

He was built from rock and for bood he uses nothing but pure Texas oil.

Gene Stallings was actually a bad ass because he never gave into the “Italian gangster” jump suit look.
