And so it begins...
Hightower to Jack? You knew it was going to happen, but just knowing he's working with the OLBs...let's just say we are now officially warm in wrong places.

And...
…A. McCullough at starting RG is interesting to say the least. That kid was a beast at DL at A-Day 2008.
And Mr. Hightower can line up wherever he likes. He scary….

I am loving the upgraded graphics
RBR has started using. It’s almost like a 5th grader did it…
We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person. ~W. Somerset Maugham
Well, then...
If he’s at OLB, do they move Reamer inside, or does Anders go back to being a specialist and one of the newer players moves to the starting spot?
Nico
Johnson on the inside. He will be this year’s Hightower just as Hightower was last year’s McClain.
We are becoming linebacker U!!
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
It's not Reamer...
… he’s just not big enough to stay inside for any legitimate amount of time, particularly in running situations.
I think exile is probably right. Hightower will move outside a good bit on passing downs, and we’ll go from there. If he’s outside on “normal” downs, either Johnson or Jordan should slide into his spot, but I imagine it will generally be in passing situations. I imagine we will put Hightower and Anders coming off the edge at outside linebacker and Upshaw puts his hand in the dirt.
Move Deaderick / Washington inside to the nose, put Upshaw at one end, put Dareus at the other, and then let Anders and Hightower rush things off the edge. And I’ll say this, if we cannot get consistent pressure with that five man rush, the raw talent isn’t the problem…

Bama will
have a pass rush package this year that will be much more effective than last year. If we can rush 5 and cover the field with 6 we will be very good. And, although Saban will first plan for VT, and then the next team etc., you know somewhere in the back of his head he is itching for a rematch with Tebow. And, we may have the only D in the country with the talent to keep him in check.

I hope so...
We really need to upgrade the pass rush, it was essentially dead last in the SEC again last year. I’m hoping this can really take things up a notch — and to be sure, I think it will — but by the same token, I do think we were a bit sloppy last year on the coaching front in that regard. Perhaps it was just because we were getting so desperate to rush the passer any way possible, but one way or the other our blitzes did become a bit predictable last year, and that hurt us as well.

pass rush
Saban has talked about our lack of pass rush last year.I think moving Hightower to jack will give us speed on the edge.

Reamer...
According to the story currently linked at the top of the site, Reamer did work with the inside backers yesterday.
Yes...
Reamer worked inside some, and has worked inside some for the past year now. And in fact, he actually played a few snaps inside last year in certain situations. The point I was trying to make, though, is that if Hightower moves out to Jack linebacker permanently, I don’t think Reamer can permanently stay inside at the Will position. He may last there a couple of games, but I do not think he has the size to stand up to a long schedule at the position.

I dunno...
I don’t think he could play Mike, but Will? It’s not ideal that he play there, but the coaches seem to have the same philosophy at LB that they do at OL, to put the four best players on the field. If they think that’s Anders-Reamer-McClain-Hightower, and that they think they need Hightower on the outside…
Reamer isn’t listed as much lighter than some of the other candidates for WLB. Jordan’s listed at 220, Nico Johnson at 226. They’re stockier than he is, though.
