Noticed someone is sporting
a “Roll Tide” sign on Gameday this morning. Way to represent in Columbus!
blah blah blah - i'm so freaking sick of the USC love...
…can you imagine what it would be like if Tebow was their QB? AHHHHH it would be like needles in your eyes painful.
being punked by Bill Withers WAS kinda cool though as much as i hate to admit it.

I have a feeling
Ohio State breaks the streak tonight against USC. I think they’re going to do it.
I think Notre Dame will beat Michigan
I like +320 on California Los Angeles against Tennessee, so I’ll bet $10 on the Money and $10 on the spread for UT at -10. Hopefully win either way, unless UT wins by less than 10.
What about Mississippi State +450 vs. Auburn? South Carolina +7 vs. Georgia?
I have to place some bets soon.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.
I'm rocking my Game Plan for the first time.
Anyone watch the Colorado-Toledo game last night? Not going to be a pretty season in Boulder.
It was insane-o
I figured Hawkins to be one of the first to get the axe, but ESPN seemed to think their administration was “understanding” about all going on out there.
Early indications are...
…that Wake Forest is returning to the “suck” category. Opening day loss to Baylor and trailing Stanford at home 7-0 only 4 minutes into the game.
Criminal
That Stanford is playing at what’s for them 9AM Local Time. I know everyone’s at the mercy of TV nowadays, but you think they could put some stipulation into the agreement between the two schools that there’s no way we’re playing before Noon Pacific.

LSU was playing at some time...
…ridiculously late for them in Seattle. It was something like 1:30 or 2am for them when that game was over.
Same for them
Game should start by 8PM CST at the latest. However, I’d guess college kids are far more used to being active at 1AM than 9AM.

Fortunately, I can watch one game at a time. Unfortunately, I have no control or say so over what that game is. (It’s Syracuse and Penn State at the moment)

We have a TV on at work...
…but I can’t see it from my desk.
The only two games I’ve seen in their entirety (at least live) this season have been:
Bama-VT
Colorado-Toledo
I saw most of UGA-Okie State and a good chunk of LSU-Washington, and have watched a ton of replays, but the lack of live football is killing me.
Sort’ve the same deal here, except the TV is over my desk so I can watch as long as things aren’t going crazy. I’m stuck with whatever is on AFN Sports… which can be rather unpredictable (Like, they aired BYU and Oklahoma live instead of Alabama and Virginia Tech, go figure).
I’m typically off shift around 1am here (5pm in Alabama), and then I can watch just about any game I want… So I get to catch the second half of some afternoon games and the night games in their entirety. Although staying up for the later games makes for a killer day at work the next day (Bama/VT game was over around 6am here, had to be back at work by noon).
by CrimsonWraith on Sep 12, 2009 12:16 PM CDT up reply actions
I feel ya.
Fortunately I was able to schedule my working weekends around the season this year. I worked the weekend before the season started, I’m working the weekend after the SEC Championship game and I’m working the one weekend Bama has off.
I scheduled off around some games...
…Bama-VT for instance and a few road games. I’ve just been keeping my fingers crossed for a bunch of night games. Unfortunately the new SEC tv deal means stuff like the North Texas game is on during the day when it would’ve been a sure fire night game a few years ago.
Troy gave them that TD
With a 30 yd field.
Note to self: Gator defense forcing fumbles to compensate for lack a luster offense.
Got that winning feelin'
I know...
…but if they got housed that bad by Bowling Green, they aren’t going to be able to withstand Florida.
How bad is the Big Ten?
Wisconsin down 14-0 to Fresno State.
Not as bad as the ACC and Big East
Herbstreet sold me on the MWC this morning, with Utah, Boise, Air Force, TCU, BYU, etc. That group is far more intimidating than any top 5 out of the Big East or ACC, and probably the Big 10. Rough those other 3 get automatic BCS bids and the MWC doesn’t.
by Bobby Briggs on Sep 12, 2009 11:53 AM CDT up reply actions
The reason I hesitate on the MWC
is that they have had one good season. In the history of the BCS, they are the first non-AQ conference to have a season that would qualify for an auto bid. Comparatively, no BCS conference has had more than one season where they DIDN’T qualify for an auto bid. If the MWC can do this more than once, I’ll be more than happy to see them get an auto-bid.
If the conference can prove that it can play at an aq-level quality for more than one season, absolutely
I’m waiting to see what happens this year, though.
it is a 3 year eval that started last season.
MWC is already 1 for a possible 3, looks like they will be 2 for 3 after this season.
hell the PAC 10 went undefeated in their bowls and didn’t meet the AQ mins for 2008

The AQ formula is based on the final BCS standings and computer rankings,
which are the standings and rankings released BEFORE the bowls. The PAC-10’s bowl record didn’t count.
hence the "and." one statement was not based on the other.

Yeah,
I suddenly have much less desire to go to that game next year.
Here we go...
the Teblow show.
That’s the only reason I don’t like him, he’s not a team player. The only reason he didn’t go pro is he knew he would only be a less than average QB. Sorta like the high school graduate hanging out at the same high school after he starts college in order to look special.

Michigan State down 13-10 to C. Michigan
Wisconsin down 21-14 to Fresno State
Iowa only up 7-3 on Iowa State
Great day for the Big 10 so far.
...but they're whipping up on two other directional schools from Michigan!
Northwestern 21
Eastern Michigan 3
and
Indiana 17
Western Michigan 7
I think we know the Big 10 is still a seat of CFB power!

say
did you guys watch Jordan’s acceptance speech? I did. It was pretty bad. He dropped an S-bomb right at the start and it went downhill from there. This guy at yahoo absolutely skewered him over it.
Didn't see him...
But I did catch some of David Robinson’s spill and was impressed with The Admiral. Reminded me of why it was that (despite living most of my life in Houston) I was both a Spurs and Rockets fan growing up.
by CrimsonWraith on Sep 12, 2009 12:41 PM CDT up reply actions
indeed.
Stockton had a nice speech, but I was really blown away by Jerry Sloan when he was talking about how he started out living on a farm, the son of a single mother, went to a one room school, and made it all the way to the NBA. And the stories about all the people he met and lost in life. That was inspiring.

Exactly...
… not a damn thing wrong with running the option, and frankly it couldn’t be any worse than what they are doing now.
Besides, running the option would allow them to use the run blocking sets in pass protection, and honestly a complete inability to pass block is their biggest weakness on offense.

sort of OT, but after watching Pitt/Titans
here is my take on what overtime should be:
15 minute period. First team to score 5 points or whoever leads at the end of the 15 minutes wins the game. If it’s still tied, the game ends in a tie. That will end this BS where teams play for the field goal, and if you can hold the opposing team to a field goal, your team can still have a chance to win. A TD wins the game outright. You can also win with 2 FG or a FG and safety.
I’d like to see college and pro go to this system. It keeps OT more like regulation but it provides more equality than the current pro OT. You could say winning the toss is still an advantage, but getting to go on offense second in college OT is also a big advantage.
takes too much time for NFL...
they want as short an overtime as possible…

Arena Football
I always thought the AFL had the best OT rules…
OVERTIME RULES
* Overtime periods are 15 minutes during the regular season and the playoffs.
* Each team gets one possession to score. If, after each team has had one possession, one team is ahead, that team wins. If the teams are tied after each has had a possession, the next team to score wins.
So...
What happens when a team has the ball in OT, throws an INT, but the DB fumbles the ball during the return. Then, the first team goes on to score. Does that INT return-fumble count as a possession, or does the team actually need to possess the ball on offense for it to count as a possession?
I’m bored and trying to wrap my head around some loophole scenarios here :P

…to follow things and when a play’s over and you missed it, it’s gone.
Yeah...
… I know what you mean, and that can be extremely frustrating sometimes, especially when it updates three or four plays at the same time.

Honestly...
… though it will never get any hype in the media in the rush to glorify the winner of this game as back and BCS bound, I think the real story here in the Michigan v. Notre Dame game is that, despite the fact that both offenses have impressed, the defenses for both teams are still pretty bad.

Pulled it...
… still 20-17 Notre Dame.
Big screw-ups there by Michigan that helped ND.

Dez Bryant just returned a punt for a TD
Houston 24-21.
I'm telling you...
… going to take 40 points to win that one. At least.

Fumbled hand-off Notre Dame...
… these teams just consistently keep beating themselves.
That’s usually a sign of some not-very-good teams.

Cougars get a 4th and Goal from the 1
Houston 31-24
um...
do you want TN to lose because they are disgusting? or do you want them to win to make the SEC look good and make it even better when we beat ’em later?
enjoy...
Fuck them
I hope they lose every game they play.

I hope UCLA beats Tennessee
SEC allegiance is meaningless when it comes to Tennessee.
Why should we want them to be strong? They profited from our down years big time. It’s our turn to profit from their struggles. I want Kiffin to fail. I want UCLA to beat them today and then I want Florida to beat them. I want them to lose so many games that their fans and their administration turn against Kiffin. I want to see their program pushed back into the dark ages.
Go Bruins. Go Gators. Go everybody that plays Tennessee. They are the biggest bastards on our schedule. They profited from both of our probation periods (1995 and 2001/2).
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

As my dad says...
….I want Auburn to go undefeated every year and have us dash their dreams at the end of the season…time after time…but Tennessee…they can lose every game they play and that wouldn’t diminish my hate for them.
I'll say it again right here:

Casey Keenum pass is deflected by an OSU player..
and caught in the end zone. Houston 38-35.
UCLA is not very good
but they’re better than WKU. They’re probably a middle of the pack SEC team. I don’t know. They have some good players but they have a lot of weak spots.

I just
got back from dinner…
How’s the UT game going? I know they are losing but how are they looking?
Scoring against Alabama will be like birthing a child: rare, painful, and messy. - The Ghost of Jay Cutler
There defense has kept UCLA
from scoring TDs which is why it’s only a 19-13 game.

the d
actually looked decent in the 1st half…
I saw that crompton got picked a couple times….where they bad throws? Good play by the D?

OK St. fumbles at midfield.
Houston takes over up 3 with 5:05 to go.
UAB throws an INT in the end zone.
They still trail 28-27.
Florida's
offensive line is good. They really are a wall of blue. I know Troy isn’t spectacular, but Tebow had all day and the UF runners could get to the corner with such ease. Tebow really is the big difference though, because he can run up the gut when they spread the field and gain 5+ yards.

OK ST. has the ball at their 20
down 3, 3:30 to play.
If they want to see how Lane Kiffin coaches
they need to watch next week’s game.

I'm telling you...
… if UCLA can just avoid a safety / turnover on the next two plays…
TAKE THE GODDAMN SAFETY AND DO NOT PUNT THE FOOTBALL!
Even a decent punt will have Tennessee with the ball at the UCLA 40. They can do a hell of a lot better than that with a kick-off.
