blah blah blah - i'm so freaking sick of the USC love...

…can you imagine what it would be like if Tebow was their QB? AHHHHH it would be like needles in your eyes painful.

being punked by Bill Withers WAS kinda cool though as much as i hate to admit it.

I have a feeling

Ohio State breaks the streak tonight against USC. I think they’re going to do it.

I think Notre Dame will beat Michigan

I like +320 on California Los Angeles against Tennessee, so I’ll bet $10 on the Money and $10 on the spread for UT at -10. Hopefully win either way, unless UT wins by less than 10.

What about Mississippi State +450 vs. Auburn? South Carolina +7 vs. Georgia?

I have to place some bets soon.

MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--

BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

It was insane-o

I figured Hawkins to be one of the first to get the axe, but ESPN seemed to think their administration was “understanding” about all going on out there.

Early indications are...

…that Wake Forest is returning to the “suck” category. Opening day loss to Baylor and trailing Stanford at home 7-0 only 4 minutes into the game.

by Nico2.0 on Sep 12, 2009 11:31 AM CDT reply actions

Criminal

That Stanford is playing at what’s for them 9AM Local Time. I know everyone’s at the mercy of TV nowadays, but you think they could put some stipulation into the agreement between the two schools that there’s no way we’re playing before Noon Pacific.

by Bobby Briggs on Sep 12, 2009 11:41 AM CDT up reply actions

LSU was playing at some time...

…ridiculously late for them in Seattle. It was something like 1:30 or 2am for them when that game was over.

by Nico2.0 on Sep 12, 2009 11:43 AM CDT up reply actions

Same for them

Game should start by 8PM CST at the latest. However, I’d guess college kids are far more used to being active at 1AM than 9AM.

This working...

…weekends and Thursday nights thing is killing me. I NEED FOOTBALL

by Nico2.0 on Sep 12, 2009 11:43 AM CDT reply actions

That makes two of us...

Fortunately, I can watch one game at a time. Unfortunately, I have no control or say so over what that game is. (It’s Syracuse and Penn State at the moment)

by CrimsonWraith on Sep 12, 2009 11:46 AM CDT up reply actions

We have a TV on at work...

…but I can’t see it from my desk.

The only two games I’ve seen in their entirety (at least live) this season have been:

Bama-VT
Colorado-Toledo

I saw most of UGA-Okie State and a good chunk of LSU-Washington, and have watched a ton of replays, but the lack of live football is killing me.

by Nico2.0 on Sep 12, 2009 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions

Sort’ve the same deal here, except the TV is over my desk so I can watch as long as things aren’t going crazy. I’m stuck with whatever is on AFN Sports… which can be rather unpredictable (Like, they aired BYU and Oklahoma live instead of Alabama and Virginia Tech, go figure).

I’m typically off shift around 1am here (5pm in Alabama), and then I can watch just about any game I want… So I get to catch the second half of some afternoon games and the night games in their entirety. Although staying up for the later games makes for a killer day at work the next day (Bama/VT game was over around 6am here, had to be back at work by noon).

by CrimsonWraith on Sep 12, 2009 12:16 PM CDT up reply actions

I feel ya.

Fortunately I was able to schedule my working weekends around the season this year. I worked the weekend before the season started, I’m working the weekend after the SEC Championship game and I’m working the one weekend Bama has off.

by rugman11 on Sep 12, 2009 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions

I scheduled off around some games...

…Bama-VT for instance and a few road games. I’ve just been keeping my fingers crossed for a bunch of night games. Unfortunately the new SEC tv deal means stuff like the North Texas game is on during the day when it would’ve been a sure fire night game a few years ago.

How bad is the Big Ten?

Wisconsin down 14-0 to Fresno State.

by rugman11 on Sep 12, 2009 11:50 AM CDT reply actions

Not as bad as the ACC and Big East

Herbstreet sold me on the MWC this morning, with Utah, Boise, Air Force, TCU, BYU, etc. That group is far more intimidating than any top 5 out of the Big East or ACC, and probably the Big 10. Rough those other 3 get automatic BCS bids and the MWC doesn’t.

by Bobby Briggs on Sep 12, 2009 11:53 AM CDT up reply actions

The reason I hesitate on the MWC

is that they have had one good season. In the history of the BCS, they are the first non-AQ conference to have a season that would qualify for an auto bid. Comparatively, no BCS conference has had more than one season where they DIDN’T qualify for an auto bid. If the MWC can do this more than once, I’ll be more than happy to see them get an auto-bid.

by rugman11 on Sep 12, 2009 11:56 AM CDT up reply actions

it is a 3 year eval that started last season.

MWC is already 1 for a possible 3, looks like they will be 2 for 3 after this season.

Ryan Williams...

That entire offense consists of two things:
(1) Tyrod Taylor running
(2) Ryan Williams running

They may as well just install the option with that kind of strength set.

Exactly...

… not a damn thing wrong with running the option, and frankly it couldn’t be any worse than what they are doing now.

Besides, running the option would allow them to use the run blocking sets in pass protection, and honestly a complete inability to pass block is their biggest weakness on offense.

by bammer on Sep 12, 2009 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions

sort of OT, but after watching Pitt/Titans

here is my take on what overtime should be:

15 minute period. First team to score 5 points or whoever leads at the end of the 15 minutes wins the game. If it’s still tied, the game ends in a tie. That will end this BS where teams play for the field goal, and if you can hold the opposing team to a field goal, your team can still have a chance to win. A TD wins the game outright. You can also win with 2 FG or a FG and safety.

I’d like to see college and pro go to this system. It keeps OT more like regulation but it provides more equality than the current pro OT. You could say winning the toss is still an advantage, but getting to go on offense second in college OT is also a big advantage.

by Zoltar on Sep 12, 2009 1:22 PM CDT reply actions

takes too much time for NFL...

they want as short an overtime as possible…

by SpockJenkins on Sep 12, 2009 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Arena Football

I always thought the AFL had the best OT rules…

OVERTIME RULES

    * Overtime periods are 15 minutes during the regular season and the playoffs.
    * Each team gets one possession to score. If, after each team has had one possession, one team is ahead, that team wins. If the teams are tied after each has had a possession, the next team to score wins.

by CharlieWork on Sep 12, 2009 1:55 PM CDT up reply actions

So...

What happens when a team has the ball in OT, throws an INT, but the DB fumbles the ball during the return. Then, the first team goes on to score. Does that INT return-fumble count as a possession, or does the team actually need to possess the ball on offense for it to count as a possession?

I’m bored and trying to wrap my head around some loophole scenarios here :P

ditto. all my others are lookin good too :)

I’m just hoping UNC/Uconn goes into OT or they win with a TD. They just tied it up a bit ago, now Uconn is backed up deep and 3rd and ….

hmm. holding call in the endzone. 12-10 UNC. They’ll get the ball back. 3 timeouts for both sides. Hopefully they score a td or field goal to cover.

Why should we want them to be strong? They profited from our down years big time. It’s our turn to profit from their struggles. I want Kiffin to fail.
