Around SBN: My First Fight: Diego Sanchez

"He just got hit right on the knee, kind of the kneecap," Saban said. "So he has a bruised knee. We'll probably do everything that we can to check him out and make sure he's ok and doesn't have any other issues. I don't know what the prognosis is for when he'll be able to come back, but we'll probably find that out tomorrow."

Julio Jones injured during Alabama's victory over Florida International - The Bama Beat

On the one hand he stayed suited up and was walking around on the sideline during the second half so that's good, but on the other hand he played through a sports hernia last year so if he was out of the game because he couldn't go back in, that's got to be some serious hurt. Let's just hope it was the staff's call to keep him out until/unless he was really needed on the field and we'll find out tomorrow that this is all nothing. In other news, thank God for Darius Hanks.

Don’t forget McCoy. He had a solid game.

Yep...

… honestly we didn’t miss a beat without Julio tonight, and honestly I imagine that’s really why they didn’t try to put him back in. I suppose it could be something more serious, but I wouldn’t think so.

And again, we didn’t struggle at all without Julio. Alexander, Hanks, and McCoy all stepped up really well, and that was that. Besides, it’s not like he was exactly giving the FIU defense fits with production when he was in there. He had three balls go his way… one catch for 9 yards, one dropped touchdown pass, and five yards on the end around. That’s not to denigrate his performance, of course, because he’s clearly a vital cog to his offense, but the point remains that we put up 40 on these guys tonight — and should have put up more — all the while basically getting zero production from Julio.

And one more thing… Julio actually stayed in and played about five after the shot on the knee on the end around. I think if it had been a really serious knee injury, odds are that he wouldn’t have stuck around in the game.
