Coach Bryant and the Changing Tide
Hey Ya'll,
Because I am well known to be an avid 'Bama fan at work they asked me to write an article about Coach Bryant and integration. Please make me look good by heading over there and checking it out.
Thanks :)

The rest of the story
Another mythical part of that story is that Coach Bryant dragged Cunningham into the Bama locker room after the game to show the team “what a REAL football player looked like.” I’ve seen interviews with players and coaches on that team that denied this part of the story ever happened. The consensus was that Coach Bryant would never have humiliated his players that way. But, he apparently did make a point of going to the USC locker room and congratulating Cunningham on the game. That was Coach Bryant, all class.

I
just don’t see Bryant doing something like that. He was a master motivator. He prided himself on it. He used to say what made him a good coach was that he was good at “making his players believe they were better than they actually were” – as he put it. So I’d be skeptical of that part of the story as well.

I found
several references to this in doing my research for that story, but I believe you’re right, it is a myth. I don’t see Coach doing that at all. And you’re right, he was all class. Thanks for reading the article.
