The podcast I do here (wellthatscool.com) in Tuscaloosa is hosting a "Messing with Texas Weekend" sponsered by Good People beer at the Mellow Mushroom on Friday Sept. 18th and 19th . On Friday my old Band Chinese Dentist will be reforming and playing some funky rock music with special guest Armless Victory playing weird up beat computer music. Armless Victory is also known as "alabama Man Dance" over at his blog "towerofbammer.com". Grandpa here hardly ever gets to play anymore and I have a feeling that staying up till 3:00 am and then opening egans at 7:30 is gonna be rough. So if your feeling froggy come out and see my band if for no other reason then to come by and make fun of how bad I feel at the bar Saturday morning. On Saturday at the Mushroom we have three bands Model Citizen, Lee Bains III, and the Classic Flame. Model Citizen is fast paced rock fronted by Matt Patton from "The Dexateens". Lee Bains III is anther Dexateen that used to front the Birmingham band Arkadelphia ,this is gonna be his new band featuring the above mentioned Matt on bass and Brian from the Dexateens and also bartender from the "Nick" in Birmingham on drums. As mentioned Good People Beer is helping sponsor this fine event which means that their really good beer will cost the same as bud or bud light, miller lite or any of the other cheap stuff . So if you wanna come out and enjoy a rocking good time with rocking good beer with people who love the Tide please come out and talk some football and beer with me.
p.s at 7:00 pm at the Bama theater in Downtown Tuscaloosa. The druidcitydrinkingclub.org is showing "the Big Lobowski" (the link is to the facebook fo the movie)with specials on White Russians. The soundtrack listening starts at 7 with the movie at 8. Then you can stroll a block down and see Chinese Dentist. If that does not sound like an awesome few nights in Tuscaloosa I don't know what is.

I live in Fayetteville, NC...
and we have nothing close to this…good local music scene is meh, no football…HBCU Fayetteville St. does not count…

I do like moe at the shed they are are back door neighbors and always come over to get some half shots and. I like Drew from the tooth as well its just so sterile there now the old one had some charter. The new one is like a sam’s club. On your way between to to feel free to pop in i’ll grab you a round but I hear what your saying far be it from me to change peoples tradition. The tradition is why I still work at Egans just on gamedays I just have this batch of friend that I only see on Gameday weekends. I bet you the same way at the tooth.

Man, I haven’t heard Chinese Dentist play in ages! You may not even remember this, but you guys very graciously played a Mallet Assembly party for either free, or dirt cheap, way back in the day. Would have been in the 2000-2001 timeframe. Was a great show and a great party. Sadly, I have obligations that will keep me in Birmingham on Friday, but I’ll be in T-Town saturday for the game and will most definately stop in at Egans. If anyone is in town on friday, GO SEE CHINESE DENTIST play! Worth every penny for sure.

technically it was outside of Egans but I blame “The Tooth” for his loss of his tooth. That Chinese Dentist show was last week. We are taping wellthatscool.com podcast from downtown tonight (friday 9-25) at above the oak city barber shop for directions email me boandnick(at)gmail.com .
