Every assumption painted Greg McElroy as the cliché, "just ask him not to lose the game" kind of passer in a paleolithic, run-based attack, but he's hardly been that: McElroy is not only third nationally (and best in the SEC) in efficiency, but also ranks third in yards per attempt, and is averaging just shy of 15 yards per completion.

Over at BamaSportsReport, they’re asking why we’re not promoting McElroy for Heisman. I personally hate the Hypesman, but I can’t argue with any of their points.
Bama stresses team football. We don't need the drama of a singled out player.

How about this.
Greg McElroy for Quaterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide. That is enough.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
John Heisman coached at Auburn and GT.
We do not have one because we do not want one.
Yes, I like my view from down here.
Although the sand in my eyes does get annoying.

Yeah, a lot of the ideas people have about us...
…are cliched or just what they remember of us from last year. Greg McElroy is a great “game manager,” but he’s also a great downfield passer. I think the idea that he’s a game manager comes from their perception of Alabama’s persona. According to most of the media, we’re also supposed to be a run-first team, which, based on the first four games of THIS season, isn’t necessarily true. We tried to run early in a couple games, but we didn’t have much success, so instead we resorted to passing to set up the run for the most part. This might change, but the idea that we’re run-first just comes from a lack of watching our games and instead just accepting conventional “wisdom.”
