Lane Kiffin has reportedly committed his first secondary violation at USC.
The former Tennessee coach picked up a recruit from the airport in a limo, according to Volquest.com.
Volunteer TV: Kiffin commits secondary violation at USC
It seems that Kiffin picked up Markeith Ambles at the airport in a limo, a violation of NCAA rules. Also, as an additional note, Ambles was on Ustream last night bad-mouthing 'Bama, so you can cross him off our list. He'll probably sign with USC, and we'll finish up with two offensive linemen and a defensive lineman to close out our class.
Comments
I keep seeing this, but nobody states what the rule is that was broken.
And what exactly did Ambles say?

Yeah
I mean, it seems a bit much to do it in a limo, but don’t they have to pick him up in something?
by Bobby Briggs on Jan 23, 2010 2:03 PM CST up reply actions
The rule...
The applicable rule here is basically that you cannot parade recruits around in limos and other high-end cars (Ferraris, etc.), or get them private planes to fly in, etc. It’s basically the Willie Williams rule from all of his antics in 2002.
And as for Ambles, he was basically saying that he didn’t want to go to ‘Bama with our boring offense just to watch us hand it off to "what’s his name."

Is a limo really that big of a deal though? I would think that the NCAA would have to use some kind of quantitative standard for what’s allowable. If so, I could see a basic limo not being a violation, but something like a stretched hummer limo being against the rules.

Well, honestly...
… do you really think they just rented out when one of those 1990’s Lincoln limos used by lame high school kids going to the prom?
I’m betting they had a stretch Hummer or Escalade. 2010 at that, too.

And I got my second ban from their fan site.
HAHAHAHAHA! Is it really trolling if you’re just telling them what they got and what their future looks like?
This is in celebration of my second ban. Rocky Top Talk didn't like what I had to say about Kiffin, and Conquest Chronicles didn't like the unpleasant, ugly, bitter truth. Why are they all so butthurt?
Yes.
Quit being a jerk.

I almost feel bad about that.
Okay, I lied. I feel nothing but glee at seeing the reactions of all of those USC and Volun-tears fans with sand in their vagina. Besides, what’s a little light trolling among friends? I will never forget my several paragraph fanpost that got me banned on RTT when I congratulated Lane Kiffin for going five days without drawing the ire of Commissioner Slive. During a very tough time in my life, it made me smile.

What?
All I did on Conquest Chronicles was ask why they were so butthurt, and here’s another of my “controversial” posts:
“No rent apartment for Reggie Bush’s parents, the use of an SUV owned by a businessman by another recent player, multi-sport involvement. A little math: X+Y+Z=YOU’RE SCREWED!!!
“Agents are actually interested in your athletes? Well, my team has the reigning Heisman champ, a Butkus award winner, other notables, and the best thing since "Refrigerator" Perry himself, Terrence "Mount" Cody, and those players all came without a free car or free rent for their parents.”
And here I thought people from SoCal were so hard…

Although...
Maybe posting the pic of Eric Cartman licking Scott Tenorman’s tears along with that might’ve ruffled a few feathers.
Oh, how about this “controversial” post:
“The very fact you are USC…
“Does not negate the fact that you have to play by the same rules as everyone else. The allegations are as severe and obvious as it would be had Hillary caught Bill with Monica and taped it. For the NCAA to continue to have any credibility whatsoever, USC is going to get hurt. Carroll’s leaving should have been your first major clue about that, especially the way he left. Denial is good and comforting, but it does not help you prepare for reality, and the reality is that USC is going to get hit like few teams have been hit before. The only reason I don’t see USC, or any other team, getting the SMU treatment is because of what it would do to the Pac-10. The "death penalty", especially in today’s money game, is a nuclear weapon on the scale of the Tsar Bomba. Even taking that off the table, though, the NCAA has a number of highly unpleasant options, which you will be seeing shortly.”

Seriously?
Why do you feel the need to stir the pot? You’re just being rude and making Alabama fans and southerners in general look like ignorant jerks.
Don’t even pretend that Bama hasn’t had their fair share of NCAA violations. [Insert something about glass houses]
You call it stirring the pot.
I call it reality therapy. Moreover, I call it “fun”. As for the rest, well, I’ll share my latest driver’s license photo.

Yeah, I guess methodically moving your way down the field with an excellent running game is boring compared to tossing the ball around for a 15-14 TD-INT ratio…

another violation?
USC is in big trouble, i’m not up on my NCAA rules and i’m probably very wrong, but if a team has severe sanctions (which they will have eventually) and they report many secondary violations, doesn’t it result in a harsher punishment than normal, in regards to the secondary violation?
Only...

Poetic Justice
First of all I know he is only a kid but you would have to question anyone’s choice making skills if they were committed Tennessee much less Lame Kiffin. If he signs with with USC now it would be poetic justice. We’ll see who is forgotten the next 4 years when USC is on post season probation. Those wide receivers on the boring offense “that won that National Championship” sacrificed the spot light to be team players. I think we are better off without guys who don’t feel the same way.

So does anyone know
was this a “self reported” violation and has the NCAA acknowledged it formally?
by BamaGirlinDallas on Jan 23, 2010 6:16 PM CST reply actions
I still think the NCAA
will do nothing to USC but a wrist slap and UT somehow will escape too.
Nevertheless, USC is not going to be that good under the lack of leadership called Kiffin. I mean PC was a much better leader than Kiffin but even he let the players do whatever they wanted. The result was the USC won 1 BCSNC when they had the players to win 5.
Can you imagine what Saban would have done in that conference with that kind of talent?
And UT, although now with a better leader that Kiffin, still does not have a coach that I think can even win the East.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
If they will give Dooley a few years...
…I think he will surprise some. I do not think he will be a better coach than Saban but he has the pedigree and the teaching(7 years with Nick). At the very least, he will bring some class back to Knoxville.

Here you go again
The NCAA is going to give USC every bit of punishment they can justify given the information that they can actually reliably prove.
It’s not a conspiracy. it’s not the NCAA playing favorites.
It’s the simple fact that the NCAA does not have subpoena power and if a school and its former coaches/players don’t want to tell the NCAA anything, they don’t have to. If nobody talks, the NCAA is SOL. The problem that ’Bama has had over the past decade or so stems from a) idiot alums getting into bidding wars with other schools, expecting them to just lose gracefully rather than reporting us to the NCAA and b) ’Bama being so paranoid that we report every piddly little thing that happens any more, making us an easy target.
I'm wrong all the time.
by PeteHoliday on Jan 24, 2010 11:38 AM CST up reply actions
True, the NCAA does not have subpoena power...
But they also lack ethics, integrity, intelligence, and basic human decency. For the NCAA to continue as a respected and respectable entity, USC will have no choice but to throw the book at them. That said, I’m not holding my breath, regardless of the words I used that got me banned on Conquest Chronicles.
This is in celebration of my second ban. Rocky Top Talk didn't like what I had to say about Kiffin, and Conquest Chronicles didn't like the unpleasant, ugly, bitter truth. Why are they all so butthurt?

I should have said the NCAA will have no choice but to throw the book at them (USC).
This is in celebration of my second ban. Rocky Top Talk didn't like what I had to say about Kiffin, and Conquest Chronicles didn't like the unpleasant, ugly, bitter truth. Why are they all so butthurt?
I see where your coming from Pete.
I will admit that I probably sound like I believe in a conspiracy but it is not really like that. What I do believe is that the NCAA committees are made up of people, who like all people have biases. It is my opinion that these people, probably subconsciously, have some schools they favor and some schools they dislike.
I think they favor USC.. I think that is probably related to USC looking a lot like Hollywood. I think they give USC the benefit of the doubt. I also think they favor Tennessee. I’m not sure where this came from but in my opinion Tennessee has gotten away with a lot of stuff over the years.
I think they dislike Alabama. I think this may be related to having bad feelings about Coach Bryant. A lot of these folks were around in his day and they may have felt like he was cheating at Bama because of A&M. I think they may have wanted to do something to Bama when he was alive but he was so popular they could do nothing. I also think they don’t like Auburn.
Well I could go on listing schools that to me seem to get away with stuff and other schools that seem to get hit with penalties. None of this is proof just my opinion and I will claim it as my opinion. I don’t think there is a conspiracy I just don’t think we have blind justice.
And because of that I think USC and UT both get very little punishment, if any. You could argue they get little punishment because there is no evidence. I’d say the NCAA can find evidence when they want to find evidence. Anyway, if USC does get hit hard then I’ll admit that I have misjudged the NCAA.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
