Top Moments of the 2009 Season: Round One - The Final Drive vs The Drive Killer

Another blowout yesterday with Ingram's Heisman acceptance speech knocking out the Wildcat TD throw to Julio 82%-17%.  Speaking of Ingram's Heisman, today we have the drive that cemented him as the top contender vs Javy's drive killing INT to essentially put the final nail in Florida's comeback coffin. Vote away:

Well i voted for ingram because

i think it shows the grit and determination of the team this year. Javy’s play excited me more probably but Ingram just dismantling that defense was because our offense had been punching them in the mouth all game. I think both of these got a tough draw, cuz i would vote that INT above alot of others!!

Really tough call.

I went with Ingram, but I don’t feel great picking against the, uh, pick.

Yeah,

Watching the Ingram vid sealed it for me. When Todd says “Ingram’s not handing the ball to Julio, he’s going to run it, everyone in this stadium knows it, South Carolina just can’t stop him” , sent chills up my spine.

There is a moment

right after “The Drive” video ended that I’ll never forget. Ingram stands up in the end zone, worn out, and just exhales – you can see the pain in his face. He gave absolutely everything he had on that drive, and he knew the game had come down to him. That image in my mind sums up his season even more than the Heisman presentation.

+1

Ingram put it all on the line in that drive.

Ingram was amazing

but I had to go with Javy because of the big-game moment and the joy I felt knowing that, with that pick (even with 11 minutes left), we were going to beat FLA

Tough one, but Javy wins for me

They were both great moments, but when Javy made that interception, I knew we had the championship! That whole game was pure happiness, but that moment was the nail in Florida’s coffin!

Easy vote

If you guys think it through…Ingram put us on his back and won that game for us. We still would have won without Javvy’s pick. Ingram’s drive all the way.

Agreed.

We were outplaying Florida at every level that day. If Javy doesn’t make the pick, someone else would have made a play.

Carolina had shut down our offense, and Ingram HAD to come up big to win the game. He was barely a Heisman candidate before that drive, and was the leading contender after.

Yes, we are over "Bear" now. Deal with it.

Close one

If Javy doesn’t make the pick, Florida scores a touchdown and It is still a game.

But I still voted for Ingram.

Not saying they don't score...

Just saying we’d find a way to win.

Easy for me.

I called it a Heisman winning drive at the time and I turned out to be right. He took that game and owned it.

by rugman11 on Jan 26, 2010 9:32 AM CST reply actions

This one was tough...

’cause I love me some Javvy.

But I had to go with Ingram, because though everyone knew he was a special player, that drive showed he was made of championship stuff.

toughest one yet

i voted for ingram on this one, but i was seriously torn. i think javy’s interception has a direct link to tebow’s tears. and those tears are just too priceless. also, javy is possibly my single favorite player on this year’s team. such a complete bad as@.
ingram’s drive though was pure inspiration, and had much to do with his winning the first ever alabama heisman trophy. i was in sheer awe watching that drive. phenomenal.

by crimsonmac on Jan 26, 2010 11:44 AM CST reply actions

I can't tell yet.

I’m going to watch the videos both a couple of times, and duly report back. But that INT . . . oh, wow, it made me feel like it was all real.

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.

by gorjus on Jan 26, 2010 12:13 PM CST reply actions

Okay

I voted for Mark yesterday winning the Heisman, and the South Carolina drive was magnificent. But Javy broke the back of the reigning National Champs, and right after that—finally!—the announcers almost immediately stopped pulling for Florida and saying “Bama’s won this.”

So, Number 28: I salute thee with my vote.

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.

by gorjus on Jan 26, 2010 12:17 PM CST up reply actions

I had to go with Javy's INT...

Ingrams drive was simply amazing and was an awesome show of personal will…BUT..

The INT sent us packing to the BCS CG…It was the nail in the coffin and brought a huge sigh of relief followed by extreme jubulation to a fanbase that has been praying for that moment for years..

Had to go with Ingram

It seems like all year everyone was saying that all Bama could do was run the ball with Ingram. Granted, they all were partially right, but the fact that all the opposing teams knew what the Tide was going to do and still couldn’t stop them just makes me happy. Bama showed this year that the same things that have won National Championships for the past 100 years can still win it. Nothing quite like a ferocious defense and punishing run game to demoralize opponents.

I went with Ingram....

…that was the only game I went to at BDS this year and I knew we were seeing something amazing happen right before our eyes on that drive. It was unreal.

Went with Javy

Ingram’s drive was pretty good, but it was game winning or anything. Alabama was ahead in that game, and they don’t have the best run defense(obviously). No doubt it did get the heisman talks going, but it was the SEC game that Ingram won the Heisman in.

Javy’s INT was much more. Alabama may have dominated Florida up until that point, but the INT was the game ender. Alabama was winning the year before last going into the 4th qtr, and Tebow was on “one of those drives” that we saw the year before, but this one went differently and sealed the deal.

The thing that sucks about these votes things is each and every time I vote I gotta feel bad about the one I didn’t vote for, because they are basically all such good highlights. Each and every one of them are what made the season what it was, and it’s really just the timing of the events that separate them,

by cal n on Jan 26, 2010 3:35 PM CST reply actions

I was there for the Ingram drive

And I still voted for Javy because as happy as I was about beating South Carolina, that feeling didn’t even come close to how happy I was that we sealed the deal against Florida with a Tebow interception.

Also if Javy doesn’t make that pick, Florida scores a touchdown and is right back in the mix. Plus, even if they lose with that extra score, Tebow doesn’t feel as responsible for the loss and may not have cried.

But all jokes aside, I’ve never been more proud of a single game performance by a Bama player than Ingram’s against the Gamecocks and it’s a privilege that I can tell my kids I was there when 22 became a Heisman contender.

But, even though I wasn’t in the dome for Javy’s catch, I was surrounded by a few hundred Bama fans at a bar and I can’t imagine that moment being any better.

"There would be no fourth-quarter rally this time, either. No muscle flexes, sideline dashes or screaming fits could save the Gators' 22-game winning streak. The second-ranked Crimson Tide turned their long-anticipated SEC Championship Game rematch with No. 1 Florida into a three-and-a-half hour bludgeoning, punching their ticket to the BCS National Championship Game" -- Stewart Mandel--Sports Illustrated
