Clemson's pursuit of WR Keenan Allen and his half brother QB Zach Maynard continues. Tiger head coach Dabo Swinney will have his in home visit tonight. He'll be joined by assistants Danny Pearman, Charlie Harbison and Billy Napier. Allen and Maynard, who made their official visits to Clemson last weekend, are scheduled for official visits to California this weekend. Allen had been committed to Alabama but is now giving Clemson and Cal equal consideration. Maynard, who is transfering from Buffalo, is down to Clemson and Cal. They plan to announce Wednesday morning at 900 AM.
Phil Kornblult: Wednesday afternoon notes
So despite being committed to us, Allen is "announcing" his decision on NSD with his brother. And we know that his brother is going to either Cal or Clemson. And we know, quite frankly, that his brother probably isn't a good enough prospect in his own right to warrant firm offers from those schools unless he brings little brother with him. And when I do the proverbial math on all of those things, I don't like the conclusion I'm reaching. This situation apparently just keeps getting worse by the minute. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid this will not end well...

Allen is an unbelievable talent
but he’s beginning to look like a prima-donna that’s being shopped around by his family to get his brother a better gig.
Hope I’m wrong, but this does look bad.
Dabo and Danny Pearman?
both with UA ties…Dabo player, grad assistant …Coach Pearman was OL coach with Coach Fuller…under Stallings…
So did Allen officially withdraw his verbal? Or has he just been shopping around and will officially announce next Wednesday?

Whatever...
Go play at a 7-8 win college.
8 or 13 It's more than your school. You can call Bama's fans what you want while your thinking of the national title.
Trent Richardson
I am not sure its an exact comparison, but a similar thing happened last year with Trent Richardson. He had techincally been committed to Alabama almost the entire year, and had a televised announcement on signing day. There were some who thought that since his brother went to a school in Louisiana (LA-Lafayette), that he would go to LSU. There were even rumors that his brother was going to transfer to LSU. I hope this fits in the same category. Still though, not good news.
I'm still hopeful.

Hopefully and I mean hopefully..
Allen is just using this to help his brother get a commitment and then will still sign with us..
Clemson and Cal can’t be offering anything that we can’t. With his kind of talent, he could come in and be our 2nd or 3rd CB. Hell, if no one steps up, he could be #1. If theres one spot on our team were a freshman can impact next year it will be DB.

We are...
…recruiting him to be a receiver. It also seems, from what I have read, that Clemson is doing the same. Also, I think location has to be a consideration as well. Its a lot easier to get to Clemson from Greensboro, than to Tuscaloosa.
what was that guy's name who...
grew up a big Bama fan and went to Clemson….I think it was Kelly…. Then we beat the Sh#$ out of Clemson with him on the team…….thats kinda what im thinking here
Kendall Kelly...
…is at Alabama, he was being recruited by Clemson. I think the person you may be thinking about is Antoine McClain. Alabama showed interest in him, but ultimately he never had a firm offer for that 2008 class. He is actually been a very impactful player at Clemson, and is now starting on the offensive line. McClain has some NFL potential, and I sort of wish we had a place for him in that class.
I still think Saban and Co. know what they are doing
and if they thought that the brother was deal breaker and we needed him that badly, they would do it. It may be a case of not wanting to let the tail wag the dog, though.

hell."

Have to disagree
I don’t think it’s an issue of Saban and Co know what they are doing, rather an issue of we don’t have to have Allen bad enough to accept his brother. We are deep a WR and frankly are probably not willing to give his brother a scholly if we don’t need him. One player to us is not worth 2 schollys, we have too much talent for that. It may work for Clemson and Cal, but not us.
i honestly don't think this is anything to be worried about
he’s being a good brother right now. If he was seriously considering these other schools, he would have already de-committed to us
