"If you lose this game, you'll take it to your [expletive] graves."
Team USA Hockey Coach Herb Brooks prior to the Gold Medal match against Finland in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Following the emotional "Miracle on Ice" win over the USSR, the team still had to face the Finnish squad in the title game. It took a dramatic come back from a 2-1 third period deficit to earn the 4-2 victory.
Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban cited this oft-forgotten game in his press conference on Saturday.

If the US had lost to Finland
there was a chance they wouldn’t even medal. Their tie with Sweden in the preliminary round carried over to the medal round. A loss to Finland would have made them 1-1-1 in the medal round and possibly left them off the podium altogether depending on the result of Sweden’s game against the Soviets.

I thnk this says it all.......
….about the difference between this season and last. I just don’t see a letdown between the SECCG and the BCS, even with the 32 day wait.
You can't win. You can't break even. You can't get out of the game.
I saw in the full write up that the 105-man roster traveled....
and that several folks lost to injury, including Hightower, actually worked out with the team at Costa Mesa college
You can't win. You can't break even. You can't get out of the game.
