Between 2008-09, Alabama reported $750,045 in football recruiting expenses, meaning the sport spent 49 percent of the athletics department's recruiting dollars. Last year, Alabama spent $27,779 on recruiting expenses per football signee.
A very well done article in The Birmingham News today looking into the costs associated with recruiting athletes at Alabama, Auburn and UAB.

Guess that means we spent a lot of money on kid's who didn't even come to Alabama
Owning a painting bussiness I’ve given a heck of a lot of bids who went to the lowest bidder and not the best painter. Bussiness is bussiness. You win some and you lose some.
Just thinkin of the Keenan Allen situation although he still may come to Bama.

did everyone see Todd or Nico flaming away for the Blazers in the comments...
I knew it was coming, but I wasn't thinking about it. So the intensity of the dump was the problem. - Nick Saban

You play fast, you play strong, you go out there and dominate the guy you play against, and make his ass quit! That's our trademark, that's our MO as a team, aight, that's what people know us as! - Nick Saban, 2008

I would argue...
that if you’re shilling for the Blaze, you’ve already seen the sticky, dank, involuted bowels of hell…so, tell us how it is?

If anything
Bama needs to spend more on football recruiting. We need to become even more “national” in our recruiting like Notre Dame and USC. We want the best of the best at Bama. They may live in Mobile or they may live in New York. Wherever they are we need to get them. The further they are the more it cost for them to visit, for us to visit, etc.
Hey, we may even consider going international like a rugby kicker from New Zealand or a speedster from Jamaica. This is why we have expanded the stadium. To fill more seats, to recruit better athletes, to win championships.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Need to be careful just how national we get
I’m convinced that a bunch of 4*s who grew up loving Alabama could potentially have more success than a bunch of 5*s playing for the NFL. I’m also convinced that if we let too many good 3 and 4*s wind up on the other side of the state because we’re “recruiting national”, they’d beat us more times than they should just based on talent level.
Now I’m not saying that we shouldn’t recruit nationally, just saying I think our maximum potential will be reached by having a good balance of the most talented in-state players with the best of the best nationally. Every year will be different depending on the amount of in-state talent, but I think we’re hitting pretty close to the sweet spot now and would be against having a much higher percentage of recruits from out of our area.
I'd agree
about Auburn except for one thing- Saban. Saban can reach into a kid and get him to play like he was born and raised Bama. If we get 6- 5 stars a year, and 12- 4 stars a year we will be unbeatable by Auburn or anyone else.

Shit. Who gets 6 5*s a year?
No one…Not even TX, UF, Da U, USC or, well, us.

Recruiting
Saw the story on sixty minutes about American Samoa a couple of weeks ago, about all the players in the NFL. They really had almost no equipment, really old, no weight rooms, lockerooms, or fields with grass. Maybe we need to send them some of our used equipment, and NC gear and start recruiting some of them, they are usually great defensive players, which Nick would love. Hell build them a field with real grass and bleachers, lockeroom weight room. Maybe open a direct pipeline To T’Town, throw in a statue of their favorite coach. Could this be wrong?
MMMMM SAMOANS. D-line recruiting needs are forever filled.

![According to the AJC Recruiting Blog, "dual-threat" QB Blake Sims has receiver an offer from Alabama:
"My family is trying to work out plans where we can go to Alabama on Saturday to meet with [Nick Saban] in person," Sims said. "It feels great that they wants me. Alabama is a great school, it’s close to home, and they almost made it to the national championship game last year."
Michigan, West Virginia, and UGA are reportedly his top three at the moment.](http://cdn2.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/40705/default_small.jpg)
