Haven't seen one up, so we might as well get this party started, and my apologies if I've stolen anyone's normal posting responsibilities.
I'm not as prolix as OTS (we're paid by the hour, man, not by the word!), but for reasons I outlined earlier, I like our matchup on both sides of the ball, and predict 30-17 for the Crimson Tide.
1. Texas will get ran down and out by the platoon effect of three great backs with very different styles. Patience in the running game is key. If a team is consistent and sticks to it, the Horns can be had up front (see e.g., Texas A&M, and UCF early...for the flipside when teams bail on running, watch the BXIICG and the OU-UT games). Our TE play will be huge, as will consistently moving the chains with our intermediate passing game.
2. Texas will not have success with many sustained drives, but a team that talented will get scores (or in position to do so) with three-four huge plays A) McCoy scrambling on a busted play, B) a good KO/PR by Newton, C) a great individual effort by Shipley a/k/a Riley Cooper's evil twin, and D) (because we know it's happening) Kareem will be in perfect position but will slip one time on a cut or tackle, and a short play turns into a huge gain.
So, 30-17, that's my story & I'm sticking to it. Dissenters?
