hope it all turns out
as it should: Bama 34-13. Can’t keep checking this thing. Makes me more nervous. Damn, last time the Tide was in the NC game my father was in the hospital for surgery to excise his pancreatic cancer. The absolute destruction of the ‘U’ was the only bright spot in an otherwise dour time.
Now almost twenty years on, my father and Grandparents have past and we are at it again in the Rose Bowl, no less— a locale my Grandparents would recognize from their twenties. I feel great juju about this game. I think it is going to be an historic win and, one hopes, the platform from which to launch a dynasty.

SHIT SHIT SHIT...I just realized something.
We’re fucked.
I’m AT HOME. I’m an Ole Miss fan also BTW, and everytime I’ve watched a game AT HOME Ole Miss lost. All the times we won I was A. at my mother-in-law’s house, or B. AT the game. The one exception? I was at the Ole Miss-Alabama game when Alabama won. I think in that case God just got confused…either that or I figured “fuck, Ole Miss already screwed the pooch with South Carolina, might as well let the team most likely to play for the MNC win” and deep down I wanted Bama to win that one.
So simply because of the game being on a weeknight…I’m at home. Jinxing us. I’m sorry.

Long way to go...
… this isn’t over by any stretch. Texas is explosive on offense and they are a big play defense. We are obviously in good shape if McCoy doesn’t return, but if he does then Texas clearly has the firepower to get back in this game.
Now, the key here is going to be getting a stop to start the second half and consistently running the football. If we can do that, we’re in damn good shape.
In any event… please boys, hang on to win here. You’ll take it to the grave if you don’t.
