Thoughts on a strange BCS title game
Pete Carroll made a great prediction when he said the first few minutes of the game would be crazy and was he ever right.
1)The fake punt interception - the fake was totally out of character for us, especially with the field position
2) Colt McCoy getting hurt on the fifth play.
3) The botched kick-off and turnover.
The first few minutes were crazy and then the game settled down. Bama took the game over mid-way through the first quarter through the end of the half. I have to admit if McCoy doesn't get hurt we are probably down at least 10 after the two turnovers. But then the TD by Dareus at the end of the half also sort of messed us up more than it did Texas because we lost our intensity. I thought even the defense lost it when we gave up the two big plays on the slip screens.
It is true that losing McCoy effected both sides of the ball for Texas but it also effected BOTH TEAMS. Bama went conversative in playing calling and got relaxed and almost blew the game. But in the end the game was won by the same way most of games were won - defense and the running game. The defense making the big play at the end with the sack and Ingram powering it for the win. (Gladly the defense and running rose up because our passing game was pathetic Thursday night - South Carolina game pathetic!!)
Glad to be a Bama fan and thankful for a national championship. Hope we are all rejoice and not worry about next year right now. Lets enjoy this one for a while.

Fake Punt
The Fake punt was not a designed play. Texas baited Bama into running it. If you go back and look there is no one covering Dre on the left side. Anytime a team sees this they will automatically audible to a pass. Texas makes it look like they are going for the block but at the snap #21(gideon?) takes off for Dre. It was a very good disguise on Texas part to bait Bama into throwing the pass.
I also thought the fake punt
was an automatic audible. Have not read anything about it.
If McCoy plays we still win, we just win differently. Witness how we ran through the great Texas D in the 2nd qt. That had nothing to do with McCoy. If the game was closer the O would have played the 3rd qt. differently.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
+1
McCoy doesn’t change the fact that we had 2 different guys rush for 100+ yards on the #1 rushing defense in the nation

And, if PJ had put just a little more air under it
it was a touchdown. It was done on a terrible spot on the field, but it was not the most terrible call ever made by any means.

I wonder if Thursday's game's...
…‘pathetic’ passing, as well as the SC game, had anything at all to do with our QB having two broken ribs…nah, couldn’t be….

Or perhaps being sacked over and over and over and over and ov--...
…you get the point.

Passing Game
The word pathetic was not only about McElroy but the whole passing game,, blocking, recievers getting open, etc..My understanding is Greg has dealt with that injury for awhile and has played well with them.
Baptman
I was under the impression
that he got that late in the SECCG.
But either way, injuries are just part of the game. No more reason for an asterisk next to our win than for Texas’s win over Oklahoma after injuring Bradford. Let’s not forget that Rolando had to get hydrated through IVs and that our 2nd best player on defense hasn’t been playing for us since Arkansas.
I certainly don’t begrudge Texas fans for lamenting over the loss of McCoy. I would too in that situation. But it’s not grounds to claim that you’re the better team despite losing.
