Given the beating we took on Saturday, I've got to tell you, I really didn't feel like writing this up. Talk of breaking records is fun when you're winning, but it seems...well...kind of futile and dreary after getting pasted like that. It's kind of a grey morning (or it was when I started writing this) and I'm lounging around spacing out and listening to stuff like Auto-Rock by Mogwai, which seems to mesh well with my feelings about this weekend's game: it starts off kind of lonely and melancholy and then builds in intensity until a powerful, determined, "Rising like a phoenix from the ashes in order to conquer the world" vibe emerges. Y'all didn't log on to hear me ramble about Glaswegian post-rock though, so onto the record chasing...
We got in a deep hole so fast that the running game never had a chance to put up any significant numbers. Ingram had 41 yards on 11 carries. He needed 103 yards to stay on pace for the record and didn't even get half of that. For the second week in a row, the average climbs again. Ingram now needs 112 yards per game to break the record. His 41 yards on Saturday put him in sole possession of 4th place on the all-time rushing yardage list ahead of Johnny Musso:
|
Ingram made no progress on the all-time rushing TD record against South Carolina. As it now stands, he'll need one per game the rest of the way to break it.
|
No progress was made on his road to all-time 100-yard games record either:

Jones needed 8.75 catches per game after the Florida game in order to break Hall's record. Julio went out and grabbed eight, but broke his hand in the process. His eight catches did move him to third on the all-time list. He needs 20 receptions to pass Freddie Millons for 2nd on the all-time list and would need 9 catches per game to surpass Hall. With this current injury, who knows how things will turn out, though I think we can safely say he won't pass Hall, but hopefully will be able to pass Millons. We can only wish Julio a speedy recovery and hope for the best at this point.

Jones would need some ridiculously HUGE games to pass Hall's all-time receiving yards record even if he were healthy, and that's clearly not going to happen. He is likely to pass Ozzie Newsome though, needing a mere 111 yards to do so.

* Brown is listed with 1,863 yards in the Alabama Record Book but in 6th place.
GMAC's 2 TD passes on Saturday moved him to 9th on the all-time list passing Jay Barker and Scott Hunter. McElroy needs 14 more TD passes for the record, or 2 per game.
|
McElroy's 315 yards passing was enough to push him past Gary Hollingsworth and McElroy now sits at #9 on the list. He should pass 2-3 others within the next few games.
