Alright, we lost a game after 2 1/2 years of not losing a regular season game. Time to move on. We lost on the road to a team coming off a bye who's quarterback played lights out for the first time in his career. The Bama program is not crumbling beneath our very feet. We lost a game and most of us thought that day would come. As poorly as we played, we still had a chance to make plays and pull the game out but that didn't happen. That's my last comment on that game.
Moving forward, we have to focus on winning the West. The NC will either shake out for us or not if we win all of our remaining games. I still believe that we are in the driver's seat to win the West and here's why. There are basically 4 teams left with a realistic shot at winning it. Bama, LSU, Auburn and Arky. My logic is very simple and I will for the sake of argument not allow any room for teams losing games that we can all agree that they should win.
1. Bama has a win over Arky, so any ties go to Bama. We essentially have 2 games left that are not in the "should win" column. LSU and Auburn are the 2 teams left that cause seriuos concern. If we lose to someone else, then we don't belong in the SECCG. Of those 2 remaining games only one is a road contest.
2. LSU despite their crazy antics are still unbeaten. They still have to play @Auburn, @Arky and Bama at home. Although, they are still unbeaten, they face 3 opponents that could certainly beat them. In fact they will be a road dog in both of those games on the road. The odds makers will probably have Bama and LSU about even in my opinion. Bama has 2 big games and LSU has 3 and 2 of those are on the road. Advantage Bama.
3. Auburn has a similar scenario. They still have to play all 3 contenders. The only difference is that they get 2 of them at home. If Bama can stay within a game of Auburn and make the Iron Bowl for the West, I love our chances at home. Also note that Auburn is going to be in back to back, physical SEC wars over the next 2 weeks. We are going to find out if they are for real or not very soon
4. Arky is the only team left and they have a loss to Bama which puts them a game down. They are @ Auburn and they also have a trip to South Carolina. They get LSU @ home.
Of course this is the SEC and someone may lose one that they SHOULD win. That would certainly change things. So everyone climb away from the ledge, hope we can get through the next 2 weeks without anymore injuries and ask yourself a simple queston, "can we beat LSU after a week off?" I say we are still the team in the drivers seat at this point. LSU and Auburn have more work to do and we already have a head to head win over Arky who in my opinion is going to beat at least one of those teams.
