I seem to hear a lot of Bama fans saying that we need Auburn to be ranked #1 so that if we beat them it will propel us into the BCS title game. I know in theory that sounds good but I can’t go along with it. To begin with if somehow Missouri or Mich. St. run the table they should, and I think would, get in over a 1 loss Bama regardless of whom we have beaten. And, frankly if we did get in ahead of an undefeated team from the Big 10 or Big 12 then the whole BCS is suspect.

Obviously the real issue is Boise. Would Bama overtake Boise if we were 12-1, but our 11th win was against the #7 ranked team as opposed to the #1 ranked team?  

I think the truth is a 12-1 Bama overtakes Boise no matter the Auburn record because we will have played 4 ranked teams in our last 5 while Boise will have played 1 in the same stretch.

So, if Auburn losses on the way to the Iron Bowl I can’t see it hurting us against Boise. Plus, it might put some doubt in Auburn’s mind. Right now they are on a pretty incredible ride. I’d love to see them knocked off before we face them. Plus the longer they go undefeated the more it does help them with recruiting.

Plus come on folks, this is Auburn!! We never pull for Auburn to win. Nothing good comes from an Auburn win. And do we really want them to finally claim a NC? Like a guy said recently, if you see me wearing a towel on my head you know that Auburn is playing Iran.

So Sat. I’m going to raise a Rebel flag and yell come on Black Bears!! And hope that Nutt somehow has the game of his life in his bag of tricks.
