Dooley still blaming the refs
"We may as well start with the obvious question -- why we had 13 guys on the field. It was certainly not your normal substitution play. We had about 150 plays prior to that on offense, defense and special teams and both sides had no issue on substituting with the exception of a couple of things. Goal line is always the tricky one because it's the furthest from the bench and there are a lot more big guys in the game. It was kind of a double substitution. What happened was, there were 32 seconds left, they have their goal line in, we have our goal line in, they run a quarterback sweep, Nick Reveiz makes a great play and then there's a long pause. It's that time where they line up and it looks like they're going to clock it and then it looks like they're going to run another play. So we have to get a call in. We get our goal line, we go goal line and we call our call. So now the players are locked into the play. And then the clock's ticking. And then at about 15 seconds left, they change. They run their personnel on, they get their sub package in and we have to match personnel or otherwise we can't have goal line people covering their receivers, so we go to base. We go to base and we begin to run our base on. At 9 seconds, the umpire steps over the ball. At 7 seconds he steps away. A couple of guys are still getting out there at 6 seconds, center goes down, snaps it at 3 and we don't get our guys off the field. That's what happened. -Derek Dooley

Well that’s factual, but he should have been prepared and had his men prepared for whatever went down.
“a couple of guys are still getting out there at 6 seconds”
that’s not really true. They were getting lined up at 6 seconds.

Exactly. Their guys were set, and no one was trying to run off.
Lame excuse.
If I'm wearing a turban, it means Auburn is playing Iraq.
Frankly I think he's full of it.
The ref absolutely did what he was supposed to. He stood over the ball and allowed UT to make their substitutions. He steps away just as the UT players are lining up. If UT had substituted the right number of players, this wouldn’t even be an issue, and it is NOT the refs job to make sure UT substitutes the right players. He gave them time to get their people on the field and to line up.
Dooley’s being a little bitch IMO.

This is not a post-game quote. This is a monday morning quote. Dooley bitched about the refs not giving him time to substitute at the post-game presser and said he’d look at the film. When he saw the film, he should have just came out and said “okay, we screwed up sending 4 people on and only 2 off. My bad”. Instead, he’s still nitpicking over the officiating.

Well hell, I thought Dooley was going to CRY on TV, lordy. I do wish coaches would
just OWN UP when they screw up.

And...this crying is not going
to win him any brownie points with the officials in the conference. They have a long memory.
As much as I hate Auburn I hate Tenn. that much more.
Bull and Shit
his knuckleheads were still scrambling onto the field with 7 seconds left; at 4 seconds the linemen were set, and the extra bazillion defenders were off in la-la land.
Here.
