We have NO chance against this guy?
In the aftermath of the tough LSU loss I have read more than a few folks speculating that Auburn is going to blow us out. While they have won all of their games, I think these individuals may be giving them more credit than they are due while selling us a bit short.
Our three toughest games have been on the road against teams Auburn struggled to beat at home. The LSU game was simple: we gave up four big plays and were on the wrong end of the TO battle. The two big passes to Randall, the fake punt, and the reverse on 4th down accounted for almost half the offensive yards and both TDs. Defensively, the strategy was obviously to stop Ridley (3.7ypc) and Jefferson (3.9ypc) from running, forcing Jefferson to beat us through the air. Unfortunately he was able to do it with big plays to Randall, eerily similar to the way Garcia and Jeffery got us. To make matters worse we turned the ball over twice in our own territory. The defense held both times but six points were allowed nonetheless, and we were unable to force any turnovers from LSU.
Bottom line for me is that we came back to the upper-tier SEC teams this year. Talent-wise (and/or experienced talent-wise) I think we are about equal to Arky, LSU, and Auburn. So far we are 1-1 in those games, both on the road, scoring exactly one more point than we gave up. Auburn at home should be a good one, and nothing would take the sting out of the two losses better than sending their fans home crying. Roll Tide!
