+1 for so much truth

Yeah, wonder

how much Cecil would be willing to take for the Heistman.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

rec'd for speaking my mind.
Ingram, Tebow and Bradford were not only great players, but also great people. They all represented their schools well and were/are roll models for young people. Cam is a theif, a liar, a cheat, and in general a discrace to CFB. His antics after an Auburn win represent all that is wrong with football and yet the Aubies eat it up.

But, but dontcha just love Cam's award winning smile? His entheusiasm is infectuous.

He’s soooo good for the game-the way he exhorts the crowd and all.

Damn, gonna miss him next season.

by Tidee Whitee on Dec 9, 2010 9:38 AM CST up reply actions

This is typical.

I hope the FBI/NCAA breaks it off in their collective cheating asses.

by TNTider on Dec 7, 2010 4:20 PM CST up reply actions

Funnier yet, what's the penalties for playing a player after contact with an inpermissable agent?

Wouldn’t it be a riot to find out they did no wrong and were getting off under this “loophole”, if you will. But this travel with his father he is ineligible for the BCSNCG, thus making their perfect season intact, but their pride that made their fall.

Of course I’m not holding my breath.

It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.

The funniest thing about all of this...

…is Cecil and Cam are wiping their asses with the “Auburn Creed” and , what little tradition the boogs have…but, they’ll take it…because they can’t get it any other way.

There is no penalty for “contact” with an agent.

No Suprise

So much for that whole limited access to the program, the NCAA must be so proud of the barns “compliance” with their self imposed sanctions on cecil newton. If they were serious about sending a message they would ban him from the building, come to think of it they are sending a message that the SEC, NCAA rules be damned we are “all in” on this cheating program. I hope the tv cameras show cecils face early and often during the ceremony and while $cam is making his acceptance speech.

I hope they catch him over in the corner

signing a cocktail napkin with an agent.

I don’t know how the NCAA can ban Cecil from the Downtown Athletic Club’s event.

by Bumpjon on Dec 8, 2010 11:18 AM CST up reply actions

It's not about that...

it’s about the boogs making good on their own imposed promises.

Who should ban who from which building?

by Bumpjon on Dec 8, 2010 4:30 PM CST up reply actions

Auburn

Auburn “voluntarily” limited his access to the football team, and this would be the time to actually punish cecil, like thats going to happen.

by bornbama1 on Dec 8, 2010 5:25 PM CST up reply actions

Cecil is being flown to New York to sit in the area designated for Cam’s guests. The DTAC/Heisman Trust pays for this and it’s not a benefit provided by Auburn. All Auburn does is get the info from Cam and give it to DTAC. Neither Auburn, the SEC, nor the NCAA can prevent the DTAC from paying fro Cecil’s travel to/from New York.

D1 Bylaw 19.5.2.6 states that when a school disassociates itself from an individual it cannot accept any money or other assistance from the individual, allow the individual to have any benefits from the school that is not generally available to the public, or take other action that is in it’s power to limit the individual’s involvement with the athletic department. The only action that is remotely close to this situation would be the last one. However, I fail to see how it’s oin Awbarn’s authority to ban Cecil from a DTAC event.

by Bumpjon on Dec 8, 2010 10:19 PM CST up reply actions

OK, I see your point...

but at face value, this is a huge kick in the nuts to the NCAA, the SEC, to Auburn, and to the Heisman voters who were on the fence but decided to give the kid the benefit of the doubt.

I would imagine there are some Heisman voters would like to get their votes back in light of this news.

by TopDaddy on Dec 9, 2010 7:48 AM CST up reply actions

Ok, well that’s totally different. And I have read that many Heisman voters are pissed about this. It is totally classless of Cecil to come. And, maybe the DTAC should ask Cecil to stay home/at the hotel. But I don’t see how the NCAA or Auburn could have banned Cecil.

by Bumpjon on Dec 9, 2010 9:46 AM CST up reply actions

right...

I did not have all the facts (and this is one time I did not care to gather them). AU’s only role in this may be as the messenger, but this still tarnishes everything the Heisman is about.

There’s gonna be a big damn elephant distraction in that room that will be undeniable.

by TopDaddy on Dec 9, 2010 10:18 AM CST up reply actions

The problem though is, if Cam is innocent you are punishing him because his dad a crook. How pissed were you last year when MI Sr. couldn’t come? If you’re anything like me, a lot. I know Mark wished his dad was their. And I know Cam would want his dad there, even if he is a crook. Should the DTAC do that to (potentially) one of their own? It sure is bad and it is giving the DTAC a black eye, but telling a potential (and presumptive) Heisman winner that your dad can’t watch the biggest moment of your life would dot their other eye.

by Bumpjon on Dec 9, 2010 10:56 AM CST up reply actions

Comparing Cecil to Mark Sr is apples to oranges...

Cecil tried to cheat the game and weaseled his way around the system (that now has to be reformed). Mark Sr only tarnished his own name with his actions.

I would doubt that anyone withheld their vote from Mark Jr due to his dad’s transgressions. However, it is estimated that as many as 10% of voters are withholding their vote from the best player in college football due to his dad’s transgressions.

As we stand today, Cam is innocent, Cecil is not. I may be in the minority here, but I would applaude the DTAC for denying Cecil’s request for attendance due to his attempt to tarnish what the Heisman represents: achievement at the AMATEUR level.

by TopDaddy on Dec 9, 2010 11:11 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah I get that comparing MI Sr to Cecil is apples to oranges but I was comparing how MI felt about his dad not being there and how Cam would feel about his dad not being there. In thins case, it would be the DTAC hurting Cam instead of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. They are doing this for Cam not Cecil. While Cecil should be punish, Cam should not.

I also get that but, unfortunately, the Downtown Athletic Club and the Heisman Trust are not populated with a ton of Bama fans so they don’t really see it our way.

by Bumpjon on Dec 9, 2010 1:56 PM CST up reply actions

Playing devil's advocate, I'll make an argument and see if it holds any water.

Since the Heisman is an award based on performance as a college football player, for the purposes of this event Cam is a representative of Auburn. As such Cecil’s presence at this event as an associate of Cam’s constitutes an involvement between Auburn and Cecil, which may be prohibited depending on how you define “limited access.”

by krnxprs on Dec 9, 2010 5:30 PM CST up reply actions

Even if that were so, the benefit is still being provided DTAC. As stated above Cecil cannot donate any money, or provide any other benefit, AU Athletics or accept any benefit from from AU Athletics that is not generally available to the public.

by Bumpjon on Dec 9, 2010 6:59 PM CST up reply actions

Here is what I'm wondering.

Is Auburn paying Cecil’s way to the event? Or did Auburn just request a seat for him at the event. I’d think Cecil could have gotten a seat at the event on his own.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
