Monday afternoon updated predictions- allen to cal, shon coleman to stick with auburn
In a bit of a double whammy, it now looks like Shon Coleman may very well stick with Auburn. Clearly depth at 'Bama is a major concern, so it's very possible. Moreover, after an in-home visit with some of our assistants, it seems that we do have a better chance than expected with James Stone, so perhaps this means that we may end up with Stone.

Man ...
This is not the news I was hoping for. Bummer. I am cracking open the bottle of wine early tonight :).
Like a
few others have said I still think we get Keenan Allen. I think these rumors are just to get ESPN and his signing day event more ratings. I just think he would decommit already if he was for sure going somewhere else. Allen has to really sell this point that he is looking elsewhere to get other schools to look at his brother. If another school offered Allen and his brother a scholarship, then his brother accepts, and Keenan sticks with us could that other school take back the scholarship to his brother if it was a package deal?
This upcoming season I'm gonna refer to Julio Jones as "The Magic Man" and Trent Richardson as "El Diablo"

Also
Andrew Bone is right a lot of times with his predictions but I remember last year he basically was saying Bobby Massie was a lock for us and Massie signed with Ole Miss. Keenan Allen isn’t talking to anyone right now so really no one knows what is going on with him except the coaches more than likely.

Massie
Well I guess Bone didn’t hear about the suitcase full of cash Ole Miss boosters sent Massie the night before signing day, lol.

There
are rumors going around that Keenan Allen has decommitted but I don’t know what to believe with him. I guess we’ll all find out soon enough where he really is going.

Just as long as
we get Allen, Coleman or Stone. Just don’t get shut out between these 3 that are really anybodies guess.
Personally I think we get Stone and not Coleman.
Allen, well if he comes, we are loaded at DB which would not be a bad thing. As far as him and his bro. going to Cal well they lost their QB and don’t have much expereince behind him so maybe Maynard can contend for a spot.
BUT, can he play next year or does he have to sit out a year? I thought (I’m not sure) he would have to sit out a year. So in a way Maynard going to Cal makes no sense for him, IF he has to sit out a year. I mean Cal will have a new qb next year and that guy will likely start for 2 years so there goes Maynard’s playing time. In a way it makes better sense for Maynard to come to Bama even as a walk on. Our QB spot this year is solid but Maynard can’t play anyway (assuming he sits out a year), but in 2011 Maynard could possibly beat out AJ or PS. It would not be given to him, but he would have the experience on both these guys. Still looks like Allen to Cal. Oh well, he will regret it when we are playing in Arizona.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
He has to sit out a year. We didn’t lose a QB this year. 2010 will feature a SR QB. 2011 will most likely feature a QB battle between a SR, JR, SO and FR all of whom are RS and have very little experience. Maynard has a chance
In other words, Go Bears!
I really thought
your qb last year was a senior. If he was a junior Maynard makes sense.

Maynard actually has a good shot at starting in 2011
Our backup and 3rd OBs combined for about maybe 10 snaps during the course of the season last year.
Maynard coming in with a full season starting experience, plus that extra year holding the clipboard learning the offense would definitely give him an advantage.
If nothing else, he`s shown to be a bit mobile, so running packages with him might also give him a niche spot on the roster.
The only problem I see with Maynard coming into the mix is that one of our backups might be looking to transfer to a more lucrative position on another team… THIS, however is purely speculation.
All your recruit are belong to Cal.
Recruiting
Damn, we just have too many good players ! But it would be sweet to steal Coleman.
For
those worried over recruiting don’t worry. Next year we could have the best recruiting class we have EVER had. A lot of top recruits from around the country already have us as their favorite and the state of Alabama should be deep with talent like 2008.

True more good
players in Bama next year. Plus, a lot of early commits will be committing to the National Champs which is why UF is so good this year they won in last year.

Bama's problem for 2011 will be numbers.
It’s being reported by recruiting experts that Bama’s 2011 class will be small. We have a small Senior class and only a handful of Juniors are projected to leave. The 2011 class will only feature about 16 signees. (See Fla 2009 and USC 2010) Seems like a waste of recruiting momentum doesn’t it? Anyway Bama should get 16 highly touted guys prolly all of them ranked at the top for their position. RTR
Your temper brings dishonor to my happy mooshu palace.
Other sites are saying KA has officially decommitted
Apparently his dad (?!) called Saban today and told him they’re going in a different direction. In addition to Cal, Penn State (?!) is also apparently in the mix. So I think it’s safe to say that KA is not signing with UA.
I hate to say it, but could we go 0-4 on Wed? Arie looks to be the most likely to sign with us, but I’ve seen rumblings that USC won him over (ughhh). And with Stone and Coleman toss-ups that could very well NOT go our way, well, that means …… (crickets). Not trying to be a Debbie Downer at all, just really wondering.
I know long-term this all does not matter, especially with Saban in charge, and that 2011 looks to be a historic class, etc, etc, but I would be lying if I didn’t say this all stings a bit … well, a lot. How can you win the National Championship and then be screwed like this just a few weeks later?
We have too many good players.
This is scaring away some guys.
I’m wondering how Auburn is stealing all these guys. Something fishy.

Ah, it happens but, man does
sucks to lose KA he looks to be a good one.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
We have an excellent
recruiting class. Just because we may not get a new commit on the last doesnt make or break your class. Sims, Milliner, and crew are awesome recruits…we’re fine. The sky is not falling.
You know
I could care less what our recruiting ranking is this year. we’ve filled all our needs, we have a boat load of great WR already, DB set to be very deep, offensive line awesome, etc. I don’t see what all of this crying like u lost something is all about. Sure. Keenan and Coleman are great prospects, but u win some u lose some, if you don’t want to be part of the Alabama family, we don’t want you, or need you.
Bama's so good, we'll make your quarterback cry.

Well said ...
Not to say losing Keenan isn’t disappointing, or that landing Coleman wouldn’t be great, but the Tide will roll on whether they are on board or not. Here’s to winning #14, RTR.

Agreed...
…and I’ll admit, the main reasons I want Allen and Coleman are that I am greedy, and I want to see us finish higher in the rankings…. Either way, we have another strong class, and our overall five-year recruiting rankings will be higher with this class than the one we graduate….
