Top Moments of the 2009 Season: The Sweet Sixteen: Rocky Block vs the Chest Bump

No real contest yesterday between Dareus and McElroy with the big man's TD easily besting the bunny hop first down with 82% of the vote.  Today we pit Terrence Cody's game (and season) saving block against Tennessee with a rare show of emotion from our beloved Nicktator.  Vote away:

Rocky Block
Ingram/Saban Chest Bump

Updated bracket after the jump.

hate to vote against coach on this one

but rocky block it is.

i find myself laughing this morning because i go to you tube every day and re-watch the clips – like ive never seen them before? or have to study them to make and informed decision? nope, they just make me smile and it is a GREAT way to start the day.

also viewed this gem from our favorite vol fan. the dude totally cheers for the wrong team but watches games exactly like i do…standing, pacing, talking to the tv, cussing like and sailor, and taking it outside to scream louder. hilarious.

Brilliant!

Thank you Soooo much for tthat posting! Did you catch what he said at the very end? Gotta give him some kinda credit, even if he is a stupid orange wearing Tenn. fan.

Not even close...

dadgum Vols…

With that play I went from the depths of black depression to ecstatic elation in about fifteen seconds.

But I sure did enjoy that chest bump. I voted for it in round one. LOVE this contest.

Just want to let you know

I will never, ever vote against this play.

The chest bump making the second round...

…is the equivalent of the 15 seed upsetting the two seed and then getting hammered in their game.

The beauty...

…of the chest bump is that it represents perhaps the greatest achievement in the history of Alabama football (consummated in the BCSCG) and allows us to see the happiest moment for our beloved CNS.

That being said, I’ll be voting for Rocky Block the rest of the way. It was the single play that made me the happiest this season.

winner will be this or Dareus TD.

Anders' sack...

…could be way up there too.

We need a way to remove that damn “Oh, my….” from the audio track. Verne’s call of this play is pretty classic.

The chest bump

is getting smashed as badly as florida did in that game.

Rocky Block is...

….THE play of the season! Although I hate to see it go up against Ingram’s screen against FL so early…I think Ingram’s screen is or should be in the Final 4. My top 4 are 1. Rocky Block 2. Dareus TD 3. Ingram’s Screen 4. Anders sack/fumble (remember it was a 3 point game then)

by akbrown15 on Feb 16, 2010 5:08 PM CST reply actions

Dang, really?

No Cody 5? I like your picks… but Cody 5 replaces the Ingram Screen for me! Plenty of other highlights in the Florida game!

by d12 on Feb 16, 2010 6:24 PM CST up reply actions

you're right......

…Cody 5 is up there too. I guess its a good problem to have when you can’t decipher which were the best plays of the year…and to have so many choices….

I'm going to put this out there...

…and hope I don’t sound like a cocky jerk, but Cody’s block was more humorous than anything for me. Once we held them to a FG attempt I knew we had it; this may not be the soundest logic, but I really thought “if we can block one, we can block two, they should have gone for the end zone.” It was hours later before I quit laughing and realized just how close we were to disaster and at the hands of the Vols no less. So I voted for the Chest Bump, pounding Florida and winning the SEC was just too good and seeing the pure joy on the player’s faces and even Saban looking happy over a job well done made me happier than anything else in the season.

Mount Cody

Cody = My favorite Bama player ever. Not saying he is the best or most talented, just my favorite.
