Came across this article about EA Sport's latest version of NCAA Football, NCAA Football 11, on PS3 and XBOX360.
For those of you who haven't played the game, Alabama's helmets do not display numbers during actual gameplay. All you see is a solid red helmet with a white stripe. The numbers are there in replays, but not while you are playing. Looks like they have fixed that this year.
"This is an iconic look and I'm glad we were finally able to get it in the game," adds Haumiller. "If you are an Alabama fan, you looked at our game last year with the solid colored helmets and it just killed you. We wanted to do a little make good with Alabama fans on this one, and it's just one of the things that fits with our theme this year, and that's creating the game that the community and the fans have been asking for.
Little details like this do not change gameplay, but for someone like me who plays just as much to get an Alabama football fix as to play a video game, this is a huge deal. Here's hoping our national championship puts us into the spotlight enough for them to include our updated stadium this year. Other than them never getting the student section or band in the right place, what else needs to be fixed to make a more authentic virtual gameday? My vote goes to fixing Roll Tide Roll at kickoff, and while adding 'Rammer Jammer to postgame is likely a pipe dream, it would be about the best thing ever.
