Who are you most excited about?

I think the players i am most excited about coming to Alabama next year would be, Phillip Sims and Jalston Fowler. I know most of you would maybe disagree with the later in this case but I'll tell you why. First I am excited about Sims for very obvious reasons. He is an explosive player with tons of upside. Period. Second I am excited about Jalston Fowler because we are finally recruiting a true lead blocker for our running backs when we decide to go with a power set (80% of the time). After watching his videos, i really think he will make an IMMEDIATE impact on our team. I cant wait to see the highlight reels of him blowing people up at the line of scrimmage!!

There are many more that i am excited about, Millner being up there because of the immediacy of the impact he will have. But those first two are the ones i just CANNOT wait to see on the field.

Who are some of the guys ya'll cannot wait to see?

Grant

After watching his highlight reel yesterday, I would say Corey Grant. He looks like David Palmer with more speed. It would be interesting what he could do in the Wildcat.

Both of the Sims

and I’m excited to see what Alfy Hill will do on defense down the road.

by 009jpc on Feb 4, 2010 9:31 AM CST reply actions

Grant is going to be

something special.

Menzie and Millner are going to play at once and they will be very good corners.

I’m also pumped about Foster. He could really help us on kick-offs and we were weak there last year.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

so is Dre a bust?

It’s hard to believe he won’t start at one CB spot after a year in the system?
I know Millner and Menzie are good, but Dre was the #1 rated CB prospect.

by tc16cav on Feb 4, 2010 10:04 AM CST up reply actions

I think...

…the common though is the Dre will be starting next year. I think the thing that most forget about Dre is that not only did he not come in during the spring class, but also had to wait all the way till the end of July to enroll.

by Kenny483 on Feb 4, 2010 10:25 AM CST up reply actions

Not to speak for 5026, but I do not think...

….he/she indicated Dre was a bust or that Menzie and Milliner would “start”. He/she stated that they will “play”. We have many different personel settings for different down and distances….

by akbrown15 on Feb 4, 2010 10:26 AM CST up reply actions

true...we do play a lot

of multiples in the secondary,so it will be fun to watch all of these players progress through the Spring. It’s a nice problem to have.

by tc16cav on Feb 4, 2010 10:29 AM CST up reply actions

Of course

Dre will play. I think that is a given. Most of the time we have 3 CB’s on the field. I mean Johnson played a ton of snaps. And at times we play 6 DB’s at the same time. Who the “starters” are will be worked out in the Spring and Aug. But I think Millner and Menzie both play a lot next year. It is just that we lost so many the new guys will have chance tojump right in the mix.

from all I've read,

Milliner is more of a “project” compared to Fulton. I’ve been told Fulton is more game-ready. Milliner has huge upside, but he played mostly safety in high school and relied on talent more than fundamentals. I foresee Fulton making the bigger immediate impact of the two. As for success in the long run, I think Hubbard will eventually be the best pro prospect out of this group, but he’s gotta go through the 4th Quarter program first and add some mass.

Alfy; Milliner

ASAP.

Groom Sims and turn him loose with our young WR corps and deep tailbacks. Speed and athleticism to spare.

I can see the Jalston Fowler love...

he is a great prospect especially in terms of blocking, but lets not forget that he can carry the rock occasionally from the fullback position and be very effective. Being a former LB i kinda like Alfy, he can be an impact player where ever he lines up on the defensive side of the ball.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!

Took

the words right out of my mouth. Fowler is raw, but he is a specimen. A FB/HB who can block and carry in the ball? Yes please.

i can see him softening up the tasty middle part of opposing defenses now, then cory grant slices through their belly like a hot knife through butter.

Don't forget

that Jalston Fowler also catches good coming out of the backfield. There is a video on youtube of Fowler making a one handed leaping catch in the endzone. He is going to be a beast. He has been compared to Le’ron McClain who is a beast for the Ravens in the NFL.

This upcoming season I'm gonna refer to Julio Jones as "The Magic Man" and Trent Richardson as "El Diablo"

McClain's

success in the pros is a constant reminder of how talent was not utilized properly during the Shula years.

I know man

everytime I see Le’ron McClain make huge runs and plays it just makes me sick to think how Shula completely wasted his talent. McClain rarely ever carried the ball while he was here.

Just watched the CG highlights

and giggled for 2 minutes straight.

He is as fluid as they come, great speed, vision, some toughness, soft hands, and is a terror in the open field.

Seriously, giggling here.

I gotta go with

Corey Grant as he could possibly be returning kicks. Blake Sims seems like the sleeper of this class but his highlights are sick. Also can’t wait to see Cade Foster and Jay Williams step in on Special Teams

by big DUB on Feb 4, 2010 11:17 AM CST reply actions

I've heard that...

Blake Sims might be returning kicks (maybe along with Corey Grant?).

by RammerJammer23 on Feb 4, 2010 1:04 PM CST up reply actions

Belue returned 9 punts for TDs

this year. Granted, it’s high school, but 7 in a row?! That’s a freakish ability

so many weapons....

7in a row is “retarded” impressive….almost sounds like some sort of tall tale out of a book or something…. We have plenty of guys that can return punts/kicks….almost too many to list. I would guess T. Grant and Maze would be the guys this year.

I'd really like to see what we can do with B. Sims

Seems this coaching staff has a knack for really finding the right way to utilize everyone’s talents.

by billycthulhu on Feb 5, 2010 12:01 AM CST up reply actions

Ya me too.

He’s the only player Nick took back after a decommit. I would like to see if it was because of his on the field ability. And if so I want to see it first hand.

He is great who can do what he wishes; he is wise who wishes to do what he can.

i think i'm most excited for ADAY

it better be on TV again, and this time not be pre-empted for a stupid ass fixed basketball game.

I will def...

be making a trip to T-Town (Title Town) again for this years ADay! Is the stadium gonna be ready by then?

I am also excited about the 2 safeties, Jarrick Williams & Nick Perry! I watched Nick Perry some this year. He was a beast in every game that I watched. One of the ESPNU guys said that one of the safeties, can’t remember which one, reminds them of Mark Barron. That in itself has got to be exciting!!

stadium expansion

definitely not ready for A-Day. It’s my understanding that it won’t be open for San Jose St, but will have a grand opening when Peen State comes to town (salivates on keyboard)

Cade Foster..

After seeing his recruiting video on youtube, i knew i had found a player to fill the void of Cody’s departure..

After finally watching...

Corey Grant’s vid I am really amazed at how quickly he cuts and how fast he is in open space. I would have to say Grant and Milliner or Phillip Sims.

I'm excited to see Phillip Sims

He’s been described as having a great arm. It’ been a while since Bama had a QB that didn’t make it rain. Next I cannot wait to see Alfy Hill and Adrianne Hubbard DE’s. Nick refined his search for a strong pass rush and struck it rich with this get. These two are going to control ESPN airways for years to come. I’ve seen video on both and they are impressive as F@#*K

He is great who can do what he wishes; he is wise who wishes to do what he can.

I am very excited to see DeAndrew White. Being the 200m texas state champ is never a bad thing. He showed great ball skills during Army game week. Also Blake Sims cutting ability is the besty I think I have ever witnessed. But I think Fulton and Foster will be the first to see the field.

I thought it had been decided...

We can’t be Line Backer U and Championship U at the same time, and further, it had also been decided we would concede the Line Backer U to Penn State, and retain our title of Championship U… Maybe I was wrong.
