[Terrance] Toliver spoke to the gathered media with a bandage on his hand, helping to protect a broken bone in his left hand sustained during the fight. While Tigers coach Les Miles said there would be no suspension, he reiterated there'd be a punishment.
College Football Talk: Hand broken, Toliver apologizes for bar fight
Let us quickly summarize this situation...your returning star senior receiver, Mr. Five-Star recruit, goes out and gets drunk at 2:00 in the morning, then proceeds to get in a bar fight that results in him getting arrested, getting tasered (twice), and breaking his hand. And you don't even give the guy a token, slap-on-the-wrist suspension? When I see things like this, the 8-8 record in SEC play the last two years and the struggles to develop high-end recruits to meet their prep potential suddenly does not strike me as so surprising.

Is anyone surprised
by anything Miles does?
I’m sorry LSU I just can’t see Saban letting this one slide if he were still your coach. If you guys aren’t careful Arky will over take you for 2nd in the west.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Really?
I have not seen the bring the hammer side of Saban, that you are indicating. There have been several arrests where Saban sided with the player, and made the discpline internal (Rashad Johnson, Courtney Upshaw, Simeon Castille, etc…). That is not even to mention the half-game suspension of DJ Hall. I think Saban is probably a lot more likely to side with the player, like most coaches, than bring the hammer down.
I am not trying to be overly critical of Saban, as clearly he has done a really good job of bringing discpline to the program, but he is not anywhere near as tough on players as his reputation would indicate.
But none of those guys...
…had to be tasered twice during a bar brawl….

You're
forgetting Jimmy Johns and Jeremy Elder. Not saying he had much of a choice, but being kicked off the team forever is pretty much bringing down the hammer.

You sort...
…of answered your own point, there was no choice but to kick both of those players out of school. Both of them were facing felony charges. I have not seen anything indicating the Toliver will face any charges, and even if he does I am sure they would be pleaded down.
The only thing that may have surprised me, is that Miles did not spout out the standard trope. Most coaches would come out in say “we are going to handle this internally,” “he will face a severe punishment”, and of course “we are a family and we are going to help Terrance”. Also, gerry made the good point of suspending him for spring practice while he is hurt. In lieu of that, there is always the one game suspension against some I-AA patsy, unfortunately for LSU their first opponent is North Carolina. Maybe Miles could do what Shula did (Juwan Simpson) and wait till after the first game and suspend a player for the first available patsy!

Watching Miles is as about as much fun
as watching Kiffin. I just get prouder by the day that CNS is OUR coach !
"Defense"
Funny thing is
my brother and his friend were both celebrating their birthday in BR last weekend and ended up at the same bar as Toliver. They noticed a fight going on and like any other testostorone saturated 19 year old, they began watching Toliver beat the shit out of some poor kid. At that point Toliver turned and threw a punch at my brothers 165 lb friend, Timothy Moran, who dodged the punch and threw one of his own out of self defense knocking TT to the ground. That’s about when the cops came in and tased his ass…..twice! He got what he deserved.
they are trying to pin blame on
this 165 lb kid who was just standing in the wrong place. Can you imagine the 6’-6" 220 lbs football player standing before the judge accusing a 5’-8" 165 lb kid of whipping his ass? If i were him i would save myself the embarrassment.
Saban has obviously moved on to better things
But don’t you think it makes him a little sad that he put several years of his life into that program, only to have his successor drag it into the dirt?

Les Miles =
eroding program. But buck up tiger fans…this will be the last year you have to put up with the hat.
i was actually really surprised
at the lack of punishment b/c the spring is the perfect time to lay down a sham of a “suspension” as a way to spin it. especially for a wr who’s going to be running around one handed anyway.

My
thoughts exactly. With the hand injury, why not sit him for awhile anyway?
