Terry Grant and Travis Sikes won't be back in 2010. Saban also said R.Green's absence Friday was excused.
A bit of breaking roster news from Chase Goodbread, as it seems that Terry Grant will not return in 2010. The deal with Sikes isn't really a surprise -- some people weren't even aware that he was still on the team, and I'm not sure he was on scholarship -- but Grant could have certainly returned.
Realistically, though, it's hard to blame Grant for moving on. He's a great kid and a very fast one at that, but with the backfield as loaded as it is, there was just no way he was going to get on the field. At most he would have gotten a few token reps like he did last year, largely as a reward for his hard work and good behavior. On a personal level I feel bad for Grant, but I'm afraid that's just the harsh reality for some of the surge in talent we've seen in recent years. By and large you really have to be something special to get on the field in Tuscaloosa these days, and there were just too many talented players standing between Grant and playing time.

That sucks about Grant...
…he’s been such a good kid and worked his tail off. Too bad we couldn’t find a role for him. Best wishes to him.

Can Grant transfer and play immediately . . .
since he has graduated? That would be a nice ending for him if he can find a spot somewhere and get in a good senior year.
He can if he transfers to a DII school.
He will just want to stay away from GaSt.
Glad he got a ring before he left.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
Hope he does something with that degree.

Yea, I can imagine it would be hard to go from winning a bcs championship in the rose bowl to playing for a DII school
What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.

As you may recall, Yamene Coleman transferred to Troy and played this year
because he had his degree and had redshirted so he had a year of eligibility left. It would seem Grant could do the same unless he has an injury issue.
Sad to hear this
Terry was one of my favorite players since Lane Bearden. He is an extremely nice hombre, and while most guys in his place would have transferred long ago to start at another school, he chose championships. Hats off to ya bro, best of luck w that degree.

Pretty sure there has been some sort of rule change, players who have their degree and are accepted in grad school at a different school (D1) can now play immediately, or so I thought.

That is the rule...
As long as they still have eligibility remaining. If they don’t, then they can’t transfer to a DI school for grad school to play football.

I really liked Grant...
He just had nagging injury issues and had a hard time finding a featured place on a loaded team. I hope he represents the University well and does well with his education.
