Mike "Pup Dog" Ellis is one of those Alabama Crimson Tide fans you know who eats, sleeps and breathes Alabama football.
You can imagine how big of a thrill Alabama’s national championship season has been for him. You probably cannot imagine how big of a thrill for him it was to get a surprise visit from one of the biggest stars from that team, defensive lineman Terrence Cody.
"I was in tears right off the bat when he walked in through here. By no means did I expect Terrence to be coming through the door. It was just kind of more than we could stand at the time. He was smiling the whole time," Ellis said.
Ellis is battling a life-threatening cancer, and though he was not expected to make it through last September, he continues to fight on to this day.

Cody = Class
Hanging with Saban has helped Cody tremendously. You are a true gentleman, Cody. Good luck and Godspeed in the future.

I think Saban has helped him but...
…I think he had that big heart to begin with.
Cody, you rock \m/
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
Cody you have a huge heart!

More stories (and guys) like this and less police blotter!
8 or 13 It's more than your school. You can call Bama's fans what you want while your thinking of the national title.
we try and post this stuff when it's out there....
but it’s not always particularly common to find. even worse, this is the kind of story a paper or tv station will throw their least experienced and/or worst reporter on. the result tends to be sickening sweet and devoid of any real insight into the people involved or the impact of the event.
but, when done well, they are certainly worth ensuring everyone gets a chance to read.
so, instead of chastising us for our editorial decisions, how about making a fan post or fan shot of these articles when you come across them? we’ve got a strong policy of bumping this stuff onto the front page when it’s of interest to our overall readership – as this entry demonstrates.

It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.
Thank You
I don’t know if he does read this column, but I am sure proud of his work on and off the field. I thank God for men like Cody. Roll Tide.
...he reached up and slapped the moon for this fan.
The moon fell from the sky and sunlight was shown upon Mr. Ellis.

Brings a tear to my ey
Life is short and very fragile, I am just glad people like Cody are willing to take time out of there day to make this guys day. What a selfless act to bring joy to someone that is suffering. Big ups to Cody…
I liked this part:
Frankie Ellis said, "I had heard a story about when Terrence first came to Alabama nobody ever sat by coach Saban on the bus. He sat right behind the driver. The first time Terrence got on the bus he sat down next to coach Saban and coach Saban asked him, ‘Son, do you want the window seat?’
"I asked him ‘Do you sit next to coach Saban on the bus? I heard you always did.’ He said, ‘I sure do. I sit by him on the bus, at the restaurant, at the movie theater, wherever we go.’ I asked him why he did that, and he said he just liked to aggravate him."
CNS...
…shoulda made a deal: “Son, I’ll let you play on 3rd down if you’ll just stay the hell away from me.”
