March Madness Open Thread: Day Two
Since it was so much fun yesterday, let's give it another go today. Put all NCAA Tournament discussion here, including your bracket-related meltdown material. Also, once again, since SB Nation rules the Internetz, Al Gore was kind enough to invent us this little widget so you can watch all the games live right from your computer. Ain't life grand?

HA
Mine was so screwed yesterday that I didn’t even think to post a thead for today. Georgetown, Marquette, UTEP and Vandy? Thanks for nothing, jerks.

You know why you lost, don't you?
You didn’t do an embarrassing admission or a taste of the town.
When you did both, your football team won the national championship and had its finest year ever. When you didn’t, your tournament bracket went to hell? Coincidence? No way.

Or could be...
…that I suck at picking basketball. Pretty sure thats it.

Next time throw a dart at the bracket...
…you’ll fare better. ;-)

Nah...
…I suck at darts, too. I’d end up with “bleeding forehead of a co-worker” as the National Champion.

did someone say

National Champion?

Depending...
… on the co-worker in question, that might not be a bad strategy.

…well, if it’s an armed guard, or some other type of armed services I’d refrain.

RE: Mizzou
has anyone since a team this long, this athletic and talented suck quite so bad? They really should be smoking Clemson.

Serious question...
Why, on God’s Earth, was Cornell a 12 seed? One conference loss, a 5 point loss on the road to (eventual NC) KS mid-season, two losses (early) to BE powers?

I would imagine...
… that there is just a ceiling as to how high an Ivy League school can be seeded. Keep in mind that prior to today, an Ivy League school hadn’t won a single NCAA game since the days of Monica Lewinsky.
Honestly, I wonder how high they could be seeded even if they went undefeated. Even in that case, probably no higher than a three or four seed.

Agree RE: Ceiling...
But, would anyone place this team as a #12 below say, #10 UF or #6 ND, etc? I do think that what you do in the season matters…which is why the Gaels etc winning didn’t really surprise me (I think just about everyone called Vandy getting kicked to the curb).

well the Ivy League
hasn’t done anything nationally since the final four run of UPenn with Chuck Daley in the late 70s. The closest the Ivy League has come was the Penn team of ‘94-95 which made it to the round of 32 before Bama with Dampier beat them in OT; still hurts. That team had Jerome Allen and Malonhey who was drafted and played a bit for the Rockets, until they sussed out he was crap—he did get Sampras’ old girlfriend on the rebound though. They were ranked as high as 17 I believe before running into an in-form #1 UMass team on national tv and getting beat by about 30.
Okay nobody cares but a very beloved time is the center of a garden of paradise to paraphrase Novalis.
