Sophomore forward JaMychal Green is not flying with Alabama's team for tomorrow night's game at South Carolina and been suspended indefinitely from the team, sources tell the Press-Register.
Reasons behind Green's punishment are academically related, sources said. It is possible -- though not certain -- that he could return for next week's SEC tournament.

I'll just start drinking now.
It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.

Wow.
But if he learns from this maybe it won’t happen next year. We had lot of guys suspend in Saban’s 1st year and I can’t think of anyone since.
And , it is not like we need to win. I’d like to win, but other than the finishing above 500 we are playing for nothing.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Until Saturday, that is....

+1
I really want to beat Auburn. Then at least they can’t say anything and we don’t have to listen to them while we wait to get our program back on its feet.
Agreed...
…although you can always change the subject to something nicer, like football or gymnastics….

I don't follow B Ball much at all
But this sounds like the equivalent of the Football team losing Mark Ingram.
It's the equivalent...
…of the football team losing Mark Ingram, the offensive line, Rolando McClain, and the starting secondary.
But that’s all.

Eh...
… from what I can tell it’s the equivalent of losing Brodie Croyle in 2003 for the Georgia game. A bad team just gets a little worse. To fit the analogy you mentioned, we’d have to be good in the first place, and I’m afraid we’re simply not.

not completely sure i agree...
there is talent on this team and there is certainly ability. the number of heartbreaking near misses this season is a testament for that.
i get the feeling coach grant is travelling the same road coach saban did three years ago and teaching them how to be winners again. to do it right, you have to break the thing down completely and rebuild from scratch. and that can get ugly.

OK...
…so let’s say it’s like the 2007 team losing Glen Coffee, Roy Upchurch, the offensive line, Rolando McClain, and the starting secondary…wait…that almost fits the LSU game that year.
Anyway, my main point is that when you lose your best player on a basketball team, it is equivalent to losing several good players on both sides of the ball on a football team…and many times, worse, since there aren’t a helluva lot of guys sitting on the bench. Either way, it’s much bigger than any team simply losing its starting QB (waits for reply from Texas fan…).

Sounds a lot like...
The number of heartbreaking near misses this season is a testament for that.
Sounds a lot like 2003 to me. For example, leading #1 Oklahoma in the second half. And throwing away a three-touchdown second half lead to lose to Arkansas in overtime. Or losing a lead against Tennessee with seconds to go, including a missed game-winning field goal at the end of the gap (plus 4th and 19), just to lose in umpteen overtimes.
Reminds me a lot of 2003.

But you're omitting...
…a$$-whippings by a few teams that year, and this basketball team just hasn’t had those.

However...
…if they come with Green out of the lineup, you’ll have more of an argument.

Yeah
the game in Athens comes to mind. Might as well have been 142-3.
