The Importance Of A-Day Attendance

Ok, I'm going to assume some of you reading this could come to A-Day, April 17, but you are thinking you could better use your time working in the yard, or on the lake, or even just watching the game on TV. Well, I hope you will reconsider.

Attendance at this year's A-Day game is actually very important to this team. You see it is going to be real easy for this team, especially those who now have a ring, to back off just a little bit. We need look no further than Florida. They won it all, and had almost everyone coming back, but they clearly did not play to the same level they had played in 08 after the Tebow speech. And even Tebow, who could see what was happening, could not get them back to where they were. And, even though they were undefeated going into the SEC game, they were clearly not playing as good as they had the year before.

So here we are defending champs. And we as fans need to send a message to this team: One Championship Is Not Enough. We need to totally fill BDS and let these guys know that WE WANT MORE.

To be honest we had a chance to send a message at the celebration at the stadium back in Jan. And to be honest attendace was not that good. (I know it was raining, but still it was not that good.) A-Day gives a chance to actually get our guys pumped up for the off season and next year as well.

When Saban first came the fan base was very excited, witness the airport crowds and then his first A-Day (which is still the largest.) I sense that back to back undefeated regular seasons topped off by a National Championship just may be making our fan base somewhat satisfied. Many of us have a feeling that we have now arrived and that Bama is "back." Well, 2010 is going to be the real test to see if we are "back." One SEC Championship in 10 years is not "back." One NC in 17 years is not "back."

LSU did not have a good spring game crowd yesterday. (I read where it was 23k "paid" but I'm not sure what that means since you could get the tickets for free off the internet.) But no matter how many they had, you could see plenty of emptiness on TV. To me that shows the fans over there are upset with Miles. But, if we only turn out 70,000 or so to me that shows we as fans are not that hungry to repeat, not really ready to be the dominant team in nation.

Remember this: We are all a part of "the process" and the work is not done by any means.
