Top Moments of the 2009 Season: The Ingramless Final Four is Set
As expected, Cody 5 topped Ingram's last TD against Texas to advance to the Final Four where it will take on Rocky Block tomorrow for a shot at the title. Today, two stellar defensive plays from the National Title Game duke it out for their chance to move on. Vote away:
| Marcell Dareus' TD Against Texas |
| Eryk Anders' Forced Fumble Against Texas |
Updated bracket after the jump.

I still maintain Darius' TD was the nail in the coffin...
…and I started my party at halftime and never let up. Not even when they made it interesting did I doubt the fate of the game. This had to be one of my favorite Crimson Tide moments in history, right along with the Strip and the Goal Line Stand.
I bet this has the smallest margin of victory between any of the other matchups.
It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.

I dunno. Upchurch’s TD against VaTech vs. Ingram’s final TD came down to within 20 votes, I think. It’d be interesting if it was that close, though.

looks like I’m going to be wrong barring some mass Dareus voting by peeps returning from work tonight. OH, and please excuse me too Mr Dareus.

Thing was,
I could have asked some of my Burnt Orange friends to come over and vote. They all agreed the majority on this one was foolish, but that is their words. I quote, “the interception was the end, the rest was a jerk-off.”
Oh well, at least it’s great to be a Bama fan.

Your halftime party...
…must have included plenty of adult beverages. Those of us who were sober (not by choice, I was in Iraq) for the first 27 minutes of the second half had a real bad feeling when we punted the ball away with only a 3-point lead.
MD’s play is one of the best of all time, but so is the forced fumble by Anders. I voted for EA because of the pure relief/joy that replaced my sense of impending doom.

If plenty equals a double shot of Crown...
It was two lapses (IMO) that allowed Texas to make it close, but I knew there would be a play like Anders’ to crush their dream of a comeback.
Again, as I’ve said before, it’s great to be a Bama fan and have these types of discussions instead of talking about who’s our next coach (as in half of the last decade). I don’t think either one of us are wrong with the selections, or the reasons on why either play made us more happy.

very tough
but anders gets it. One of my deciding factors is the penalty on dareus for throwing the ball. Stupid.
Ingram is my boy!!
marcel should have known better, no doubt,
but i’ve watched that play numerous times and i’m convinced he was throwing the ball to the sideline judge who was standing at the goal line pylon. as we all know, our players are told to hand the ball to the official after a score. he shouldn’t have thrown it so hard but i can’t imagine what i would do had that play just happened to me. not condoning the act but i’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Agreed
I’m betting that Darius never participated in the “Hand the ball to the ref after a TD” drill in practice. In fact, it’s just possible that no one ever said to him, “Look big fellow, after you bat a shuffle pass around, pick it out of the air, toss aside a qb, avoid a would-be tackler with a power forward spin move, and rumble into the end zone for a TD in the biggest game of your life, you need to calmly walk over to the ref and hand him the football.” But I don’t want to go out on a limb.

This has been the hardest.....
When Marcel ran that one in i “thought” we won…. When Anders forced that fumble (and mainly when Upshaw recovered it) I “KNEW” we won the title. So I gave my vote to the forced fumble by Anders… But seriously this one was the hardest choice of the bracket so far…. And it’s only going to get harder!!!!

Anders play was as it should have been
Dareus’ play was caused by a fluke on the part of Texas and his presence of mind.
It’s hard to vote for the fluky play.
Both made me happy. Anders play did happen when the game was more in doubt. It was more relieving than the play going into the half.
Dareus didn’t do it clean, since he committed that penalty.
I have to go with Anders.
actually, Anders should have pressured the QB...
…the sack in the 4th quarter alone would have made this a big play…
…the fumble made it legendary!

Anyone remember Sophie's Choice...
what a tough, tough call. Had to go for Dareus though. His was the final nail in Texas’ coffin, allowing us to essentially coast for an entire half. Granted the Horns scrambled and played tougher in the second half, but that was purely the product of this dagger right before the half.

Maybe if we didn't score that TD right before the half...the team wouldn't have slumped in the 3rd quarter
Maybe we wouldn’t have needed Anders to make the sack/forced fumble, if we didn’t have the security of the MD’s TD. What do you think?
interesting
but hindsight thoughts don’t count (for me) in this competition. what made me happiest at the moment it happened is the criteria …

185-185
It will come down to the wire. Never being one to count something as in the bag until it is in the bag the Anders play gave me a much better feeling that we would in fact win the game. At 24-6 at half time there was still plenty of football left to play.
Ask Texas which play hurt them more and they will tell you that they were about to win before that hit.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Dareus' play had me feeling better.
Ander’s sack (and the subsequent recovery…which should be co-credited) is when I 99% knew it was in the bag.

By "feeling better"...
…I meant about the tgame in general…not feeling better about the two plays. I voted for Anders.

should do a show on the amount of stiff arm thrust force needed to make a would be tackler look like a bitch. The show should be concentrated on qb’s after they throw a pick to a d-lineman.
i'm not going to vote till tonight
and i’ll entertain any attempts to bribe me.

I went with Dareus
My vote may have been influenced by the fact that I was seated near that end zone, and far away from where Anders’ forced fumble occurred. I think I’m allowed to be fickle on this.
another good point
i’m not sure we really knew what the hell happened on the anders hit until watching on replay?
still haven’t voted….

Happiest vs Relieved?
Dareus play made me happier, but Anders hit caused the biggest sense of relief I can remember in a game or any non life changing event for that matter.
Anders' hit was a life changing event.

tough
but i had to go with anders.
dareus’ play was as epic as it gets. always nice to see quality opponents get owned by some improbable playstation moves.
but anders’ play was the true final nail in the coffin. texas fully expected to march down the field, they had momentum, they were moving the ball, they were poised to make an epic comeback for the ages, and i was genuinely worried… then anders, propelled by fate and a spectacular play call, saved us all.
if it comes down to this and rocky block, i think i’ll just have to sit it out.

I really enjoy...
…the discussions on these votes, but there seems to be too much thought going into the votes themselves. It’s not that hard for me to remember which play made me happier, and I don’t have to gauge the significance of the play to the game or the season to ‘decide’ how much happier I was at the time. These are certainly two of the most important plays of the season, but the reaction where I was to the Anders sack was a good amount of relieved ‘hell yeahz’, whereas the reaction to the Dareus pick 6 was people throwing babies in the air and kissing each other and whooping it up like they brought the troops home.
