Alabama's position in the SEC tournament is all but locked up after tonight's results. Thanks to Auburn's win over Mississippi State, we are now all but assured of the #5 seed in the West, which is actually better than the #4 seed. The only way we are stuck with the #4 seed now is if the following three things all happen on Saturday: (1) we beat Auburn, (2) LSU beats Georgia, and (3) South Carolina beats Vanderbilt. The last two pieces are highly unlikely, so it looks like we are headed for that #5 slot regardless of our result against Auburn. This means we would match up with Florida in the first round on Thursday night, and advance to face Mississippi State in the second round on Friday night should we win the first. We would be on the same side of the bracket as Vanderbilt, but opposite that of Kentucky and Tennessee. In the unlikely event that we do get the #4 seed, we would face South Carolina in the first round on Thursday afternoon and advance to face Kentucky in the second round on Friday afternoon should we win the first.
