Around SBN: Odds On Peyton Manning's Next Home Includes Three Teams

2010_m_bball_color_on_white

Alabama's position in the SEC tournament is all but locked up after tonight's results. Thanks to Auburn's win over Mississippi State, we are now all but assured of the #5 seed in the West, which is actually better than the #4 seed. The only way we are stuck with the #4 seed now is if the following three things all happen on Saturday: (1) we beat Auburn, (2) LSU beats Georgia, and (3) South Carolina beats Vanderbilt. The last two pieces are highly unlikely, so it looks like we are headed for that #5 slot regardless of our result against Auburn.

This means we would match up with Florida in the first round on Thursday night, and advance to face Mississippi State in the second round on Friday night should we win the first. We would be on the same side of the bracket as Vanderbilt, but opposite that of Kentucky and Tennessee. In the unlikely event that we do get the #4 seed, we would face South Carolina in the first round on Thursday afternoon and advance to face Kentucky in the second round on Friday afternoon should we win the first.

Thanks for the info and explanation...

…my take on it is…let’s just beat Auburn, dammit!

yes sir

had Auburn lost to MSU, we would have been forced into that #4 seed had we beaten Auburn. I would still want to beat Auburn, but this makes it even better. And if we do beat them, we actually tie them for 4th in the West, but they would get the #4 seed simply because of the particular teams they have beaten.

Thank goodness all we have to do is beat Auburn

The rest is just chaff. And yes NLS, I don’t want to change the subject, I want to dominate those to the south-southeast. This is basketball season, damnit.

It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.

Your scenario for the #4 seed...

will probably not happen. Bama can and should beat Auburn. But I don’t see both Georgia and Vanderbilt losing. Vandy is coming off a great win at Florida and will play Saturday in Memorial Gym.

Nobody wants to say it . . .

but I will. If we beat Auburn, Florida, Miss. St., Vandy, and Kentucky, we go to the Big Dance. I know it’s not likely but given the way we play defense, it is not out of the realm of possibility. Don’t stop believin’. Roll Tide!!!
