Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy said Monday in Washington, D.C., where the national champion Crimson Tide visited the White House, that he has fully recovered from the fractured ribs he suffered in the SEC championship game and will be ready to go when spring practice begins Friday. McElroy wore a flak jacket in the BCS National Championship Game two months ago. "The ribs are in good shape. I’m feeling healthy and ready to go," he said.

McCoy getting knocked out...
…is the new ‘Did Eddie Lacy qualify?’

Eddie Lacy wouldn't have qualified

the way texans tell it...
we’d have peace in the middle east by now if that boy had stayed healthy in pasadena.

Here at home in RBR, maybe...
…but I seriously still hear it EVERY DAY here in Texas.
Could one of ya’ll call here and let every dadgum Texas fan know that that whole rationale is played out…

honey, any LSU fan will tell you...
the only difference between a coonass and a jackass is the sabine river. don’t think a call from the 205 area code is gonna change that.

I guess you're right...
…I should just move to Alabama where I belong :)

Same in UK
I hear it everyday, who would have though that the Air Force would have so many Texas fans.
I agree
If the backup qb isn’t playing bama likely won’t stand a chance

Sorry I didn't clarify
I was actually referring to the backup qb for Texas in response to “McCoy getting knocked out” above
Sorry...

McElroy isn't the most graceful of quarterbacks
but he always seems to come through when it matters most. This season he will have a year of playing time under his belt so he should be even better. I believe this year’s team will be better than the last one (certainly the potential is there) but the schedule will be tough to run. I predict one loss but hopefully it’ll be early in the season.
If we have to lose...
…one, and only one, I would pick the game at South Carolina. That way we could still win the SECCG, and maybe it would help the ’Cocks win their first SEC East title.

the problem with that...
is it would likely be a big enough upset to make the national championship unrealistic.

Not if...
…SC ends up in the SECCG. UF’s loss to Ole Miss in 2008 didn’t keep them out of the show.

this is part of my concern about making the MNC...
a specific goal for the coach/team. getting to and winning the SECCG is a reasonable goal. you win a certain number of games against specific opponents and achieve it. but the BCS is such a contrary crapshoot it’s impossible to predict what will suffice in a specific year.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
That is true.
But in recent history I can not recall an SEC team that won the SECCG and had only 1 loss all year that did not make it. There must have been someone but it seems that if you go 12-1 and win the SEC you are going to be hard, real hard, to keep out. This past year with so many undefeateds in the regular season it may not have held true—but this past year was an exception. I totally like our chances of being 11-1 going to SECCG and then seeing what happens.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Well
That’s true… there is a team in the SEC that had 0 losses and didn’t make it… but I don’t really find myself complaining…
At this point...
Any championship won by not playing an SEC team in the BCS would be viewed as illegitimate. (There is some comment to be made here about McCoy’s backup, but I just can’t come up with it right now).
Yes, we are over "Bear" now. Deal with it.
Our
offense this year is loaded and will be one of the best we’ve had in years. Like some others have said we may have a few shootouts early on while the new starters on defense learn to play as a unit. All the new faces in the secondary is scary. While the new players will be talented the secondary is not a place you want a lot of new faces all at once in the same season.
This upcoming season I'm gonna refer to Julio Jones as "The Magic Man" and Trent Richardson as "El Diablo"

I agree with that assessment but...
I believe that coach Saban will have those young men locked & loaded, especially after a few games. Like you said, there is plenty of talent, it’s just a matter of learning & adjusting to the system (or process if you will?)
It seemed
like right after the National Championship most recruits thought our passing game was just that shitty and didn’t know McElroy was hurt. Marvin Shinn almost decommitted because of how bad our passing offense looked in that game. I’m glad this news of his injury is being put out there so that the future recruits know why McElroy looked so bad that night.

I love our power running game, but I also dream of days where....
….our passing game is lethal.

That is not a dream.
That is reality. Our in UF’s case a nightmare.
