The Crimson Tide lost seven defensive backs from last season’s team, including three starters, while another one, safety Robby Green, is in limbo for this coming season.
Green’s eligibility is in question, but Alabama is appealing and hopes the matter will be resolved.

So perhaps it is a failed test for PEDs after all?

PEDs...
…get you suspended for the entire season. I think it is the same thing for “street drugs” (NCAA term), if it is failed test. I think it gets more merky, if it is a possesion charge. I am pretty sure you can get that pleaded down, and miss a minimal amount of time, if any. I believe that happened with a Florida football player a year or two back.
OTS.... what are your expectations
as far as the secondary… who do you expect will start and who of the incoming class has a chance for early playing time? Clearly I expect that answer to be Milliner… but you never know. I gotta say I am most looking forward to seeing what Dre Kirkpatrick can do (is it me or does everyone see how flashy he likes to be? If he’s THAT good I see him being a flashy star similar to Deion Sanders… but maybe it’s just me!). He and BJ Scott.. Been looking forward to him for quite some time now.
Green's eligibility
Speculation at this point only serves to make the issue murkier. Until we know more about what is really going on from a credible source, innuendo and half-truths just make the young man involved and the Bama program as a whole look bad.
When an announcement of some sort is necessary, Nick will take care of it along with any penalty phase that is possibly warranted.

We haven’t heard much from him in the offseason. Is he still on the roster and what are his prospects for 2010?

you questioning my cred?
and the credibility of my “source I met in a parking deck at midnight?” Them’s fightin words brotha. I still stand by my original statement, and will continue to do so, even in the event I am proven stupidly incorrect. Littering and…

Losing Green would not be good
Obviously. Luckily, we don’t face a proper passing team until Arkansas on 9/25. The following week is Brantley/UF and that game is followed by Garcia/Cocks. If we have lapses in the secondary, this is the stretch when we’ll find out.
The wild card in this discussion is our pass rush. If we can effectively pressure the QB, we take a lot of pressure off our secondary … because the QB won’t have as much time to exploit weaknesses. Let’s hope both scenarios play to our advantage.
