I really just don't get all the "boo hoo, Alabama doesn't want to play so many teams with a bye, wah wah" from rival fans. Face it, having those bye weeks before facing the Tide hasn't helped any of you, so why do you want it so bad? Why do you want two whole weeks to think about just how badly you're about to be whipped? I'd think you'd just want to go ahead and get it over with and take the bye week afterwards to recover. But that's just, like, my opinion man. Also, Trent Richardson said to tell y'all hi and that he's looking forward to seeing you all again in the fall.

That's a nice bit of braggadocio but...
If we really believed that the bye week doesn’t help them, then we wouldn’t be complaining about it. True, it hasn’t gotten any of them a win the past two years, but I’d still rather them not (all) have that extra week to “think about just how badly they’re about to be whipped”.
Hmmm
The "commentary" in those two links could be sharpened up a bit. Special treatment? If any other team were in a similar position (playing 75% of their conference games facing opponents coming off of a bye week) we’d be hearing about SEC conspiracies to keep them down and how things only favor Florida and Alabama.

the "argument" they are using is that...
by changing the schedules this year alabama is getting “special treatment.” which overlooks the fact that the practice of overloading one team with post-by-week opponents is clearly unfair and has been directed at alabama by it’s sec opponents for quite some time now.
this situation is the inverse of the ncaa’s pandering actions in light of the coach-in-waiting nonsense our own pete holiday pointed out recently.
the problem is that if the sec does the right thing and fixes this ridiculous situation it feeds the CHEATIN BAMMER chorus of idiots on the internet. and when we win all these contests that’ll get louder as they wail about there was no way a team could overcome that kind of schedule without help.
whatever. i see this is the brand of whining we should expect from the rest of the conference now we are back in our rightful place of beating their asses with regularity. it’s been a long time coming and i’m planning to enjoy every little bit of it.

The “chorus of idiots” was only that one (hilarious) guy on Red Cup Rebellion.
Well, that and all the Auburn fans on al.com…
or in general…

It's incredible...
…just how bad the tackling is on that play.

The smell you're picking up here is fear
We ran through the conference with only one game seriously in doubt (let’s be honest, Auburn got a quick jump, but once their initial flurry was done, everyone knew what outcome was coming), and that was with a brutal schedule and our opponents getting a lot of rest.
The wails and whines from other SEC fans is just pure fear.
For two straight seasons, we’ve run through the regular season without a loss despite facing lots of teams who were fully rested even when we weren’t. Can you imagine if the path had been easier?
I'm wrong all the time.
the odds of us getting unscathed through another regular season...
are extremely low. playing at the level of competition in the conference and controlling things like injury make it hard enough – sustaining the type of play needed for that kind of success is almost impossible.
but coach saban preaches that one of the keys to success is becoming a “nightmare” for your opponent. this kind of wussified nonsense is a vivid demonstration that he’s certainly achieved that portion of the process.

So what you're saying is that we're the guys no one wants to play?
Ahh… The beauty of The Process is that you have never arrived, so you get to continue being perpetually awesome.
that is so well said
i think i’ma have to steal it.

also...
…one of the “reasons” for the recent trend of disproportionate post-bye conference scheduling is that teams have some say in when they can take their bye, and a lot of teams were choosing to rest up before Alabama. So essentially the rest of the SEC is a bunch of pussies.

hmm...
i thought they were all just worried about playing us because they don’t have colt mccoy as quarterback.

I’m pretty sure we already knew the rest of the SEC was filled with pussies.

I take umbrage with Verne's "scoots down the sideline" call.
Richardson does not scoot anywhere. Trucks maybe but not scoots.
8 or 13 It's more than your school. You can call Bama's fans what you want while your thinking of the national title.
Well, that's relative.
What amounts to a “scoot” for Richardson would probably be a “truck” for anyone else. I pity the safety that catches him in full Richardson “truck mode.”

There's a perfectly reasonable explanation . . .
for why you will never see a safety “catch” or otherwise collect Richardson in full truck mode.

I guess I should define "catch"
as “being on the receiving end of his lowered shoulder” in full truck mode. There are few who could catch him, as is evidenced by the above video.
