UA Athletic Department's Thad Turnipseed gives us a video update on the construction at Bryant-Denny.
Interesting notes:
- We're getting new video boards in the north end zone, in addition to the south end zone ones we were expecting
- The marketplace area may include a restaurant and a coffee shop. It's tough to sell commercial space right now, but I can't imagine this space going empty for long.
- The Stadium Club idea is intriguing. I wonder if they'll allow alcohol in the lockers like they do in the north Zone.

I can’t wait to see the finished South End Zone lit up at night. The open market area is a great idea and I will be interested to see how it is actually utilized. I really like the 4 HD boards…could kinda suck for those seated in the upper deck, though…

Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
But it will be better
because if you were in the upper deck this past season you couldn’t see the boards at all (the North endzone). So with them being bigger you will be able to see them from the opposite areas.

We can get Replays on all 4 boards and not use 2 of them as clocks. There should be plenty of room for both Scores, Time and game video on those things, if they would just lay it out right.

Agreed. I have a beef with the A/V guys about their coordination of the sound and video systems. Seems like every time the band plays, they get interrupted by the A/V, or vice versa. Songs cut off in the middle or bleed over into actual game play. The ribbon boards almost never show the scores from other games, and during one game, I saw that they were displaying scores from the week before. And of course, we’re still playing that horrendous soccer music to start the game.
We have fantastic video editing guys (as seen on YouTube), but I think they’re being undersold.
The best use of A/V I’ve noticed was at Ole Miss, even though they don’t have the resources we do. They had replays of every single down immediately after the whistle—very nice.

Me and my buddy hate that Kickoff music with a passion. Why every stinkin’ football program in the country uses that crap, I do not know.
As for the screens, I just hope I can see a bit better from my nosebleeds.

I hate that shit. Miami was the first team I noticed doing it, and it bled over to every damn stadium in the country. It’s stupid and everyone starts singing that “waaaooooohhhooohhhaahhhooohhhh” whatever crap.

I’ve tried to go about without knowing anything of that song except seeing the early season ASU student section jumping and making Sun Devil stadium vibrate with their jumping up and down.
