Music Monday: Silversun Pickups - Substitution

Mondays are the "new" music posts, so after today I'll be scratching my head over who in the world I'm going to pick since I'm old and rarely bother seeking out new music anymore. To put it another way, I'm generally running about six months behind on the new "cool" bands, and even when I do know who they are, I probably like only one or two of their songs. But today I'm going to go with one of the few new(er) bands that I genuinely love, Silversun Pickups. I first heard Kissing Families a few years ago and was so taken with it I immediately downloaded Pikul from iTunes without even hearing any of the other tracks. Quick aside, I didn't even have an iPod at that point and specifically downloaded iTunes to see if I could get it that way instead of having to wait a couple of days for it to arrive from Amazon, that's how much I loved it. So it's been very gratifying to find that they've maintained a strong sense of their style through their first two proper albums (Carnavas and Swoon) without essentially making the same music over and over again.  Although It's Nice to Know You Work Alone is my favorite cut from Swoon, I'm going with Substitution today because the end of the video cracks me up.  There's just nothing like a bunch of models in short dresses giving each other catty looks to really highlight a song.  Enjoy.
