Recently, the SB Nation website covering Georgia Tech, From the Rumble Seat, received an email from an irate Alabama fan who was none to pleased with their selective memory concerning the Yellow Jacket's famed former coach Bobby Dodd's policy toward excessive brutality on the football field. FTRS responded much as you might expect from the representatives of the Georgia Institute of Technology - with a bit of researching and an exel spreadsheet.

I hate that this series is postponed.

I only got to attend one BAMA-GaTech game. It was my brother’s junior season at BAMA and the game was at Grant Field. That was my first time to eat at the Varsity. It was one of the few games I saw my brother get to play some decent minutes(BAMA won handily, 45-7). It was also Bryant’s last season. I was looking forward to attending both of these games. Hopefully they put them back on before I get to old.

Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs

Come on Pawl.

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Ooh, there's an idea.

We should pick a day for RBR to take over the Finebaum Show during the off-season. We could throw them all into a tizzy by inundating them with intelligent discussion!

If you're planning on intelligent discussion...

you’re not making it past the call screening

yep. I’ve called in several times. My best call was after the LSU game last year. I was the last caller to get on. If you recall, there was that controversy over the interception call and SEC officiating in general. It came out that week that the replay officials did not have high definition televisions. So my call went something like this:

Me: Hey Paul. Do you remember that play at the start of the game where Julio made a catch that was ruled out of bounds.

Paul: Yes. They tried to review it, but the replay crew had not gotten ready yet.

Me: Well, what I heard happened was the replay official was still trying to adjust the rabbit ears on his TV.

Tech seems to have

selective memory. First of all the Holt thing (1961) was blown out of proportion by the AJC a paper that disliked Bama and Bryant. Holt’s elbow got through Grannings face guard and fractured his jaw. But the truth is that it was a pure luck. No way Holt could have predicted that it could have happened and no way he did it one purpose to break someone’s jaw. In a way it was an equipment failure on Tech’s part. Not to blame them, Holt clearly should have been penalized on the play (which he was not), but no way you kick someone off the team for that. And, Holt was a little guy and the hit was not that hard.

Secondly, the worst incident of all was in 1963 when on the last play of the Tech game a Tech player hit Wayne Freeman who was standing around after the play with his helmet off. It was a blind attack, and I guess meant as retribution. but it did result in Freeman being injured. The guy who hit him got nothing.

Finally, Tech got out of the SEC because Dodd knew he could never beat Bryant. He didn’t seem to complain about the SEC being too rough when he was winning it all did he?

Although Bryant wanted to get Tech back in the SEC (before they went with the ACC) I hope we never take them back.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Wish i could find the pic of Bryant wearing the helmet on the sidelines to protect his skull

wearing the helmet on the sidelines to protect his skull from the liquor bottles being tossed his way from the tech student section.

Ordinarily, I'd whip your nuts with a car antenna for that kind of callous attitude

Correct!!

Tech fans did throw bottles onto the field and could have injured Bama players or coaches. And if Tech wants to deny that they are just living in denial.

Things were so bad that when Bama came to ATL to play Tech, Bryant would not take the team out to eat in Atlanta. I think his words were something to the effect of “When we go to Atlanta we always pack our lunch.”

I blame Furman Bisher(self made bastard) for most of the hate.

I hope St Peter does allow his worthless carcass admittance. He can act as Coach Bryant’s ottoman.

hates Bama and would do anything he could to bring us down.

but i would appreciate he’d get it done so i can go to atlanta and piss on his grave.
