Last weekend was a good one for Crimson Tide players trying to break into the pros at various rookie mini camps around the league. The guys that got selected in the draft made a good impression and several unsigned free agents wowed their way onto rosters. The tally of veterans from Alabama's 2009 National Championship team in the pros looks very promising so far and could improve over the next few days.
This weekend the Baltimore Ravens are holding their first mini camp. Expect a lot of attention to be paid to our former big man in the middle, Terrence Cody, who the team selected in the second round of the NFL Draft last month. The Ravens also have invited running back Roy Upchurch to camp for a tryout. Be sure to keep checking in over at SB Nation blog Baltimore Beatdown for updates.
Closer to home, the Atlanta Falcons are holding their rookie mini camp this weekend as well. Offensive lineman Mike Johnson is on the roster after being picked in the third round of the draft and tight end Colin Peek was snapped up as a free agent just hours after the draft ended. You can hop over to the SB Nation website The Falcoholic for info on their progress.
We are still waiting to hear about the status of Eryk Anders in Cleveland, Justin Woodall in Chicago and PJ Fitzgerald in St. Louis. Each were given a tryout but we haven't heard if they got contracts and will be back for their respective team's training camps.
We'll try and keep everyone up to speed over the weekend. If you hear anything, feel free to post it (and a link if you got one) in the comments.
