Alabama Softball: SEC Champions

Alabama's softball team earned the regular-season Southeastern Conference Championship for the second time in school history today with a 6-1 victory over Mississippi State in Starkville in the season finale. (Game stats can be found here)

The team's 2010 regular-season record stands at 45-9 overall and 23-4 in the conference. The victory - which marked a sweep of the Bulldogs - marked 21st consecutive win for the Crimson Tide softball squad, a school record. 

Alabama is currently ranked No. 3 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 rankings and No. 4 in the USA Today/NFCA coaches' poll.

The Crimson Tide squad is now the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2010 SEC Softball Tournament at The University of Arkansas' Bogle Park in Fayetteville. It marks the team's 14th consecutive appearance in the tourney which kicks off on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
