Regardless of what happens in that appeal, we know this: SC is more powerful than anything else. ... No matter what they try to do to us, it won't matter because I've talked to our players and our recruits and not one kid is wavering one single bit.
The message out there is this: They didn't come to SC to go to a bowl game. They came to SC to get their education, to be part of the Trojan family and play for the most powerful and prestigious program in the history of college football. So if any of you guys are worried out there, don't worry. SC will always be on top.

Well...
… from the apparent sound of things, those in charge at USC seem to still be denying wrongdoing and dismissing the notion of changing anything moving forward. If that is not a guaranteed recipe for finding yourselves right back in front of the COI a few years down the road, I don’t know what is.
Sounds a bit like us affair the Langham affair, doesn’t it?
And, of course, you know the NCAA will have them under a microscope moving forward.

so why go to play for usc, then?
outside the promise of on-the-field glory and the perks that brings in the LA basin there doesn’t seem to be much reason to be a trojan. if a player was really concerned about getting their education i’d think they’d probably opt for stanford.
normally, i’d chalk this up to coach happy talk for the press but at this point i honestly think kiffin believes it.

Welll, obviously...
Well, obviously the spiel being spewed by Kiffin and company now is just a bunch of high talk designed to keep recruiting going well and their current signees and commitments intact. Obviously the education bit and the like don’t hold up under any real substantive analysis.
The thing with USC is that they are a high-profile, glamorous program, and as long as they are perceived by elite high school players as being a destination that provides lots of fame and a quick-track to the NFL, they are going to do very well in recruiting. And in essence, going along those lines, Kiffin and company know this… hence why they are spinning this thing as if nothing is going to change.
USC recruiting won’t fall by the wayside immediately, it will be a slower decline. Let them have a couple of more 8-4 type seasons, followed by questions about Kiffin’s ability and his status as being on the hot seat, and a slowed NFL pipeline, then you’ll see USC run into recruiting issues.
For now, though, all you need to do is convince a bunch of gullible 17-year old kids who want to believe that all is well with your program, nothing will change, and you can still come to USC and be a rockstar. Reality will set in at some point, but for now delusions rule the day.

still...
he sound’s more rational than usc’s athletic director:
As I read the decision by the NCAA. I read between the lines and there was nothing but a lot of envy. They wish they all were Trojans.

Wow!
I had not seen that quote. Talk about clueless and delusional…

lets put it this way...
kiffin still thinks they’ll be eligible for a bowl this year.

yeah I saw that...
when I read the entire story that that quote came from. Kiffen is just as delusional as Gareett, but of course we already knew that!
And Kiffin forgets one thing though….they are not going to win all their games since he is their head coach!

If we were Trojans, we would've just been hit with a huge probation.
So no, we don’t all wish we were Trojans.
I wonder if this will be used by the NCAA in the appeal.
How can they argue the sanctions are too much when Kiffin is saying that they won’t have any effect on USC?
What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.

USC doesn't have
a clue about what is about to happen to the “most powerful and prestigious program in the history of college football.”
The truth is they were never that and it will be some time befiore they are even a top 10 team again.
If we have to expand...let's keep it to 14.
I wonder...
I bet their strategy will be to spend a lot of money on the appeal process to possibly delay the bowl ban to 2011, 2012. As the season develops, if they lose a game then they will immediately stop the appeal and just accept the bowl ban for this year. That way they essentially can control not having an Auburn situation like in 1993. OTL is this a correct hypothetical? or am I way off base? seems all schools with money and a chance at the MNC would go this route.
