Comments on U.S. vs. Australia

With just under a week to go before the U.S. faces England, the U.S. played Australia (FIFA ranking of 20) in their last "friendly" before group play begins. Here are some notes/observations:

Edson Buddle - lights out performance and should have had a hat trick but one was called back due to a bad offsides call

U.S. Defending of crosses - holy cow, was it the ball, sun, poor pitch or just lack of positional awareness that made us look so dodgy on crosses. England thrives off of set pieces and crosses. If we defend like that against them, bank on us giving up 2 goals to the Brits

Hercules Gomez - guy comes in during injury time and cashes a goal within three minutes of play. From what the announcers were saying, he's got the highest goal scoring/per minute average on the entire team. Lucky?!?!

Aussies are HACKS - We almost lost a couple of players to some studs up tackling or high tackles.

The field - Please tell me the other fields in S.A. won;t be this bad. That was a cow pasture. Reminds me of some college down 280 (sorry couldn't help myself).
