Alabama lands California offensive lineman
The University of Alabama has added a commitment from Isaac Luatua from La Mirada High School in California. He called head coach Nick Saban this morning with the good news.
"There just isn't another place like it, and it's a perfect fit," Luatua told Brandon Huffman the West Coast Regional Manager for Scout.com. "I don't care about depth charts. I'm going to Alabama and the tradition, fan support and the academics were all the determing factor in my decision. I'm going to give everything I got to the University of Alabama and to the state of Alabama."

Rivals has him as the 8th rated center, according to Gentry Estes.
He committed without visiting campus. And he’s still 16 years old! Hope we can keep this commitment.
Do we have any other California players on the roster right now? The last I remember were Prince Hall and Jimmy Barnes. Not saying he’ll have the problems either of them did, but I just hope he doesn’t get to Tuscaloosa and get homesick right away like I think Hall did.
He committed without visiting campus.
That is my only concern. Still, though, it sounds like he is a smart kid who has done his homework, though, so that’s positive.
Do we have any other California players on the roster right now?
Not to my knowledge, no.

Hot Damn...
Finally some offseason news I can sink my teeth into. Doesn’t he know that our academics are totally inadequate? Guess he doesn’t read the Texas blogs.
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
So, where are the...
bumper stickers that say “My ‘C’ student football team beat your honor roll football team”? :)
That's only because
the team GPA dropped when Colt got hurt.

BTW, is he Samoan? Hawaiian?
“I wouldn’t go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What’s the (brother) gonna do? He’s Samoan.” —Pulp Fiction
I can’t mention large Samoans without thinking of that.
And I
will strick down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger….Side note: I have always thought that CNS would have made a great Jules during the intense, gun scenes.
Luatua, a Samoan, bench-presses 365 pounds and per his high school coach, can bench-press 225 24 times. He has yet to turn 17 years old.
From Shane Youngblood, this kid’s probably still growing.

ESPN has Luatua ranked the 17th best Offensive Linemen in the country........
Couple the raw talent with the coaching, experience, leadership, wisdom of Joe Pendry and Nick Saban, and any decent player can develope into an NFL prospect. The energy of the Alabama fan base injects pure adrenaline into our players on gameday. So, Luatua (+ the variables) from this point on will be considered a 5-star Center.
He is great who can do what he wishes; he is wise who wishes to do what he can.
Woot woot!
Finally some decent players I can root for from my home state.
If Prince Hall had his head on straight, he would’ve been great under CNS’ tutelage. Jimmy Barnes and Marc Guillon did not show up well while at UA.

…and he knows who represents the state.

And
He didn’t even call us “Alabama University.” It’s important for recruits to actually know the name of the school they’re going to be playing for.

CNS will be pleased by our efforts:

Reputation precedes
Why else would the kid come so far? He wants to play in the best conference, for the best coach, at an elite program. Bring him.
Cool
It is about time we got a Samoan on our team. This could help start a pipeline into Cali.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
I've always been envious
of the sweet samoan names that some other teams’ fans get to talk about.

This quote from his HS coach
“He’s a Coach Saban type of player. He’s going to keep his mouth shut and do everything he’s supposed to do. The next thing he’s going to do is try to get another Samoan kid [defensive lineman Viliami Moala] Alabama is recruiting from northern California to go down there to Tuscaloosa with him.”

Honestly,
you really couldn’t craft a better public statement for our university than what this kid just said. Other recruits should write that shit down.

You got that right.
He said he put a lot of research into his decision. It shows.

It's so nice
To come onto this web site and read and discuss Bama football and not be inundated with flames from another team’s fans. And I think you know of whom I speak. Anyway, after the staff at Bama gets through with this young man, I believe Bama will have done well and Luatua should be on his way to a great career in the big leagues.

Love your avatar...
I grew up and lived in Virginia Beach except for my time at the Capstone until I recently moved to Gator country(ugh). I was always pissed to walk into DMV and see on the sample license plate wall Auburn’s logo, but Alabama was not available. Good creativity on your part!!!
You had me at "ROLL TIDE"!!!
Thank you
It was not my first choice, but I am content with it. My niece thought it stood for ‘Reality Drill’. I can go with that too. I keep hoping that Va will offer a UA tag but no luck yet. I did notice that they will offer a Kentucky and Vandy tag. Best wishes to you down there in Gator Country. I have not experienced any bad reactions from the people here in UVa land. Contrary to the contention from our friends in E. Al that "nobody outside of Alabama likes Bama. I have had many people give me a ‘Roll Tide’ when I am out and about in my Bama gear.
