The NFL Network Loves Don Hutson
The above link will take you to Hutson's spot on the NFL Network's Top 10 Records That Will Never Be Broken. But they also feature him in two other lists: Top Ten Single Season Performances and the NFL's Top Ten Pass Combos with QB Arnie Herber.
Hutson was a major star in the early days of Alabama football and he is without a doubt our greatest contribution to the NFL. These clips tell his story if you're interested.

Jerry Rice...
…Lance Alworth (and Hutson, of course) are mentioned in the video. Those three may be the three greatest receivers in the history of the game, and all three are from the former Mississippi Territory. Must be something in the water. Thanks for posting.

Alworth once said
that he could have had over 2,000 yards a season if he played today (more balls thrown and the institution of pass interference).

I'm sure...
…he’s correct, and I’m sure he could have had a longer, more productive career (for a guy who had one of the most productive careers in professional football, that’s pretty scary).
There’s a guy I know who goes nuts when I tell him that Jerry Rice is the greatest receiver of all time. He insists that Lance Alworth is the greatest ever, and that Rice couldn’t hold his jock. He may be right: I’m not old enough to know…but I sure enjoy yanking his chain. Either way, those two, Hutson…and who else? Those guys are the best receivers to ever play the game. We may see another join their ranks (a certain Tide receiver comes to mind), but we may not. It’s almost inconceivable that someone will break, or even tie, Hutson’s records, but it could happen, maybe. It would be nice to know, you know?

No doubt..
..without pass interference..plus, the outright ability to catch anything thrown his way….Hutson was a beast…Steve Largent comes to mind, as well as Allworth..
