"In this case, the agent used a player to get other players to come somewhere where the agents could meet them"
Quote source: Nick Saban
This was posted in the comments by BamaHadMeAtHello, but it deserves mentioning here. Based on what Lord Saban says, it would rationally lead one to conclude that the agent in question had Marvin Austin use his friendship with certain players, including Marcell Dareus, to get these guys come to South Beach. This meshes with earlier claims by Dareus to UA officials that he did not know it was an agent-hosted party or anything of the sort, and it also makes sense regarding other unconfirmed claims that Dareus merely went to Miami to meet up with friends.
Furthermore, it certainly would explain why Steve Spurrier told Weslye Saunders to stay the hell away from Austin, and why Austin is perceived to be in much more trouble than the other named players. Either way, some of the latest information we have is starting to sound very positive for Dareus' status.

Dear LSU,
Please pound them into a fine powder and shit upon the remains.

Sure why not
seems like an easy request we’d be honored to fulfill.
I’ll only add that while most LSU fans are expressing solidarity with our compatriots to the east, it’s really just whistling past the graveyard until this whole matter is settled and we know for sure no Tigers involved. After that, you can expect the full barrage of OFFSEASON AGENT VIOLATION NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Y’ALLL
Until then however, we stand firm with our SEC brethren in decrying these heinous acts of corruption by persons from the lesser conference of the Atlantic seaboard.

What a douche
Saban kept referring to what agents do as "entrapment." Really? Was the agent wired or disguised as a plumber?
If what Saban said about the NC player tricking other players plays out to be true, this guy needs to be taken out and flogged.

be accused of entrapment?

Damn I'm an idiot...
I though he was talking about Crack Cocaine. I was wondering why BGV was ewwwing. In my defense it was after midnight here when Kleph posted this.
wow.
I was feeling mighty fine with the world until I read that steaming pile of sheissa. He obviously ignored the part where he spoke of the agent education program that the program has had in place.
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
Schultz is really stupid at times...
Most of the Atlanta sports types try to take a pro-sports mentality… so they just assume the colleges aren’t doing enough and go back to discussing the salary cap.
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
They all have...
Mike Bell on 790 am was trying to laugh at Saban… “What are they gonna do, have an agents police? Pff”
To which David Pollack (a guy who gets it in regards to college sports) responded, “They should!”
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
well, actually, we shouldn't
the university should take care of it from the side of the athletes and the nfl or players association should be handling from the side of the agents. but they aren’t and now the schools have to pick up the slack or suffer.

Other things Nick Saban has not discussed in a press conference and, therefore, must not have an opinion on:
- What sort of shoes the players wear
- Boxers or Briefs
- Little Debbies other than oatmeal cream pies
- Global Warming
- What he’s going to have for dinner
- Fourth amendment rights
- Racial genocide
- Heart disease
I'm wrong all the time.

I am cautiously optimistic about Dareus
but I still wouldn’t be surprised to see CNS make an example of him.
why?
for being duped by a friend? saban’s a hardass but he’s never given any evidence of being unfair to his players.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
Agreed.
He’s beyond pissed at this agent, but he has done nothing but defend Dareus. He may rip off the fingernails of the agent, however.

Exactly...
Saban has done nothing but defend him and his fellow players at this point. He’s not going to make an example out of anyone over this.
If he makes an example out of anyone, it will be the NFL by telling their scouts to stay the fuck out of Tuscaloosa until they implement a legitimate disciplinary system for scofflaw agents.

defending a player in public is one thing
but “old school” in house discipline is a different matter. I’m talking about running every step in that gorgeous renovated stadium. Somebody needs to stress test the new addition, might as well be Dareus.
if it's house discipline
it should stay in house. i don’t need to know the infraction or the punishment.

True, I should have been more specific
in my original comment. If he makes Dareus an example, the target audience is the team, not the public.
now if saban catches this agent
i want the ensuing mahem to be carried out in the quad.

RBR is gonna pass 10,000,000 "page views" by this weekend....
you guys run an excellent website. this has been by far the best and most consistent source of news this whole offseason, from the conference realignment melodrama to the ever unfolding “south-beach-gate” non sense. this site tops ESPN, Rivals, CBS, and all the rest when it coems to breaking news, broken down, in a coherent and non sensationalistic manner. Good on ya lads!

We do kleph.....
the information on RBR is up faster than any other source for information on Alabama football………..and the opinion/analysis pieces are second to none……….that being said, I think my favorite part of this site is the discussion that inevitably follows after any post……….I love how you guys participate in the discussion, and if there is a more intelligent, knowledgeable community on the internets, I haven’t found it………
The frequent updates
also keep me checking several times a day. Seriously, this and a particularly well-run Bama forum are the two main places I check for my fix.
OK, we need a running checklist of party guests and schools...
Sure, speculation, blah blah, and so on, but still, the complete guest list has got to come out:
FL – Pouncey
NC – Austin
SC – Saunders
AL – Dareus
GA – ?
(the remainder of the SEC schools)
Any other ACC schools? Big East? Etc.?
To paraphrase a friend of mine who frequently quotes Yosemite Sam: “Hangin’s TOO GOOD for that agent!”
Pouncey wasn't there
was he? His issue is separate and unrelated, I believe. He got money before the sugar bowl. Nothing to do with this party as far as I know.
