The University of Georgia received a call from the NCAA late this afternoon, requesting permission to send investigators onto campus to conduct an "inquiry."
UGA associate athletic director Claude Felton confirmed the call to the AJC. He said UGA officials told the NCAA that the school will cooperate fully in the matter.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution: NCAA will make inquiry at Georgia
Sounds like UGA is up next. I imagine they won't be the last ones either. Whether they are legitimate or not I don't know, but for what it's worth I think just about every SEC school outside of Vandy and Kentucky have some guys rumored to be involved in this.

That could be huge...
A source closely connected to Georgia’s athletic department tells TMZ the wide receiver allegedly attended a party at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami on Memorial Day weekend. Partying alone isn’t a crime under NCAA rules — Green is 21 years old — but if someone (like an agent or financial advisor) paid for anything related to Green’s trip … that could be a violation.
Keep in mind that Green has explicitly denied he was there and that he was instead back home in South Carolina. That’s fine if he was, but if he didn’t he’s in deep.

how reliable is TMZ regarding a college football story like this?
where were they during the USC scandal or the expansion talk that made Chip Brown a wealthy man?

No doubt there...

… believe it or not there are Auburn rumors out there too. Again, I’ve seen rumors for literally every SEC school aside from Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Even MSU and Ole Miss. Who knows if they are true, but they are out there.

That is exactly what i was thinking
Is this all because of the whole Bush ordeal? Does the NCAA feel sorry for USC? My guess would be someone tip the NCAA that something had transpired and needed looking into. I don’t think I have ever seen this many institutions dealing with investigations from the NCAA in the same conference…with the exception of UNC. Am I wrong about this?

Well, the fact that Marvin Austin was tweeting while drunk inside the club at 3:00 AM probably helped them figure it out.

Per Andy Staples...
One piece of evidence in the NCAA’s arsenal is a Twitter message sent by North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin at 3:07 a.m. on May 29. “I live In club LIV so I get the tenant rate…bottles comin like its a giveaway,” Austin wrote. LIV is a 30,000-square-foot club located in the Fontainbleau hotel in Miami Beach. Its Web site claims the club “offers its guests the definitive Miami nightlife experience.” Austin’s tweet quotes lyrics from a song by rapper Rick Ross.

First of all, there is another branch you seem to have forgotten. Secondofly, it’s because nobody cares about the Air Force.
now guys, play nice
here at rbr we take pride in and support all four branches of our nations armed forces. each and every man and woman that serves in them is an unqualified badass in our view and if our humble blogging efforts makes their active duty that much easier to endure, we feel we’ve actually accomplished something of worth.

Obviously you’ve never served. Because anyone who knows me and thinks that I am a “badass” is seriously disturbed, and I met dudes in all branches (even Marines) that even I would think are huge weenies.
That said, despite any inter-service rivalries we may have, I still respect all who have honorably served even if they’re weenies.
then you are a weenie that has served
which automatically makes you infinitely more badass than me.

It seems like we are really quick to jump on some kids’ cases and label them as ‘bad apples’ when they mess up with bar fights or DUIs or whatever considering all the hard work they put in every week. That being said, Austin seems like a punk. And he’s not just making problems for his teams, but our team and others’ teams as well.
Fight on, fight on, fight on men! Remember the Rose Bowl, we’ll win then.

If you're wondering "why now?" or "why so many?"
You need to be reading the bylaw blog which is the blog of a (presumed) NCAA compliance officer. His/her basic take is that the agents/amateurism arm of the NCAA is pretty new and until now they’ve been just building up a critical mass of knowledge about how the agent game is played and who the major players of that game are.
He also suggests that there are more anonymous tips when it’s obvious that the NCAA will do something about them, so in the wake of the USC ruling, they’re more likely to get tips about agents.
Combine those two and you have anonymous tip + better operational understanding of the mechanics = a whole lot of hell raining down on the college football world for the next few weeks.
I'm wrong all the time.
and that certainly reflects the comments made by the investigations folks
to reporters when interviewed in the wake of the unc case.

Interesting...
From Mark Schlabach on Twitter:
UGA sources told me yesterday that A.J. Green was questioned by brass and said he has never been to Miami. They thought he was telling truth.
Maybe I’m an idiot reading entirely too much into this. Maybe Schlabach didn’t mean anything by it. Nevertheless, notice the past tense in the final sentence. “Thought” he was telling the truth, not “thinks” he is telling the truth. Maybe that’s nothing, but maybe not.

Marcell led under false pretenses per AL.com
As his mother lay dying in her Birmingham home, Marcell Dareus couldn’t cope. He had to get away.
It was the middle of May. Spring classes at the University of Alabama were over. Summer classes and football conditioning didn’t start until early June.
Along came an invitation from a friend to fly to Miami. The chance to hang out in South Beach sounded good, so off Dareus went to chill in the sun, sand and warm water.
Little did the star Alabama defensive end know what kind of hot water he was about to get into, according to sources close to the Dareus family.
Alabama officials are investigating the trip in the wake of reports that the visit included a stop at an agent-related party. Contact with an agent can jeopardize a player’s eligibility. Dareus has not been questioned by the NCAA, a source close to his family said.
Dareus attended the party but claims he was lured to Miami under a false pretense, a source close to the family said. When Dareus discovered there were agents at the party, he asked to leave. Then he received grim news that his mother, Michelle Luckey, had died, and he abruptly returned to Birmingham.
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
Also important
The plane fare to Miami was paid for by Austin, but when Dareus arrived in Miami, he paid Austin for the ticket and received a receipt, the source said. Austin also arranged for a hotel room, but the source said Dareus did not use the room.
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
Caught me before I posted that.
I’ll admit I don’t know anything about the NCAA rules, but I would hope if the above is true then he will not face any suspension and the case is resolved from the Bama perspective.
It may be idyllic analysis on my part.
