Huge, huge, huge recruiting news here, as Trey DePriest picks Alabama over Ohio State and others. Point blank, you don't find much bigger recruiting coups than this one. DePriest is from near Springfield, Ohio -- a good 600 miles from Tuscaloosa -- and he was recruited heavily by the in-state Buckeyes. Quite frankly, we haven't had a recruiting coup of this geographic magnitude in ages. Off the top of my head, I cannot even think of a signee in many years of this high of a billing and from this far of a geographic distance that would even be comparable to DePriest.
Scout.com has DePriest as a five-star prospect, and he instantly becomes one of the top two or three commitments of the 2011 recruiting class. He had offers from literally every school in the country, and he will be enrolling early in Tuscaloosa to boot. Making matters even better, at roughly 6'2 and 225 pounds, DePriest has the flexibility to play any of the four linebacker positions in Nick Saban's 3-4 defense. Life is good, folks.

Big time........
I’m feeling pretty good about our linebacker corps for the next few years……..
The Linebakers that Saban has pulled in so far...
Have been outstanding.
Dare I say… new Linebacker U?
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
it's interesting
since the man is recognized as a guru of the secondary, and that’s his self-professed area of interest.

At that point in time. I appreciate the education. Won’t happen again.

No worries...
… we really have to do a “Beginner’s Guide” to RBR around here, we just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

I am just as fired up about this commit
than I was about Richardson. A new line of great linebackers has begun like Bama fans are used to. DT, Buscuit….the list is too long.
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
fwiw
I’ve also heard that this decision will trigger a few more prospects to commit to us very soon. Including number one prospect in the country, Jadaveon Clowney, who is rumored to have recently eliminated in-state school, South Carolina from his list.
It is now Bama with a huge lead over Florida.
The bad news about the DePriest committment though is that it does hurt, if not eliminate, our chances with other top LB prospects Tony Steward and Curtis Grant. But hey, we can’t take everyone these days like Bear did.
The precious few schollies we have left for the 2011 class are being left for the best of the best, and absolutely nothing less.
Hightowers replacement.
Seeing the field next year probally helped alot in his decison.
I understand hate. I'm a Alabama fan.
Huge! I love this guy.....soooooooohapppy!
Bama's Pluck and Grit have Writ Her Name in Crimson Flame
another thing about the process...
it’s all about paying attention to the details.
Most colleges send football scholarship offers over the fax machine. Alabama’s offer to Springfield High School’s Trey DePriest arrived through the mail on 8½-by-11 glossy paper, unbent and unblemished… They sent two glossies — one to his home, and another to head coach Rick Robertson at the school.

Nationwide dominance...
…begins with successfully re branding the uniforms of popular chain sports bars:

Yeah...
Stinks for Montreal, since nobody would wear that stuff while they actually had a team.
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
Re: to the first link in the post...
Sucks to hear about Colin Peek not doing so well. I thought there was not doubt we would be seeing him on Sundays. I don’t think you can question his toughness. Come to think of it though, he did have a knee sprain last season if I remember correctly.
I think we all know what the real question here is...
Will he qualify?

Last linebacker prospect with this much buzz?
Antonio London?
I recall it well, since I worked near enough to the switchboard at the good ol’ Tuscaloosa News in those days to hear the receptionist chant each day’s litany: “Sorry, no one’s answering in Sports – no, Antonio London did not commit today…”
Also recall the joy of listening to TN radio call-in show the day he did commit. That may be the closest TN has ever come to literally invading the state of Alabama.
WOW.
I know it’s going to be tough for him the next several months in Ohio listening to the locals telling him what he should do, but that makes this man even more excellent in my opinion for being willing to deal with all that.
YES!
