Boise's Schedule
I went to Rivals.com and looked at their preseason rankings and thought about the toughness of Bama's schedule and all the flack that Boise State has been getting about the WAC schedule. So I decided to compare them...and I think you know what the results will be.
Bama - Boise State -
1. San Jose State - #119 1. Virginia Tech - #9
2. Penn State - #19 2. Wyoming - #71
3. Duke - #93 3. Oregon State - #22
4. Arkansas - #18 4. NM State - #113
5. Florida - #6 5. Toledo - #98
6. South Carolina - #31 6. San Jose State - #119
7. Ole Miss - #44 7. Louisiana Tech - #101
8. Tennessee - #49 8. Hawaii - #86
9. LSU - #15 9. Idaho - #78
10. Mississippi State - #61 10. Fresno State - #66
11. Georgia State - NR 11. Nevada - #65
12. Auburn - #39 12. Utah State - #103
So let's say to be fair we drop the highest and lowest ranked teams from each schedule (Bama - UF & GA State, Boise - VT and San Jose). The result for Boise is almost 4 teams in the triple digit rankings and the only quality team being Oregon State at #22. Now I see why Boise wins all of their bowl games. With a schedule like that they hardly break a sweat while all other BCS conferences are playing better quality opponents almost every week. Plus an extra tough game for those conferences with title games. What do ya'll think? Would even a two loss Alabama (or SEC team) get your vote over an undefeated Boise team for a spot in the NC game? What if Bama lost one game to one of the following: UF, Arky, PSU or LSU and it was Bama vs. Boise for the second spot?

Even i consider people from NC to be southerners…

yeah
I know “north” is in the name, but come on. Below the Mason Dixon line, fought in the confederacy, and they have 2 of their own types of BBQ. Southern enough for me.

I question Virginia's "dixie cred",
even if they were the (second) Capital of the Confederacy. But North Carolina’s clearly southern.
hey now
them’s fightin’ words!! maryland is the state to question, not virginia

Half of Virginia is basically DC,
and no matter what the Founders thought in putting the capital there, DC is not a Southern city.
Also, I apply my snow rule: If it regularly snows there in the winter, then you’re probably not in the South.
there's a whole lot of virginia
that’s not northern virginia.

And why is Maryland the state to question?
I don’t think there’s any question about Maryland. (Yeah, that Mason-Dixon line was drawn a little too far north, IMO.)
yeah..
Army of Nothern Virginia…without them…the war last about 24 hrs.

That was then...
Today, unfortunately there would not be much of an army from Northern Virginia. Well, except for one wearing blue.

It's been some time since I've had a strip, actually
Last time I had it was in a T-bone, probably. I’m more if a filet man, but I guess who isn’t, if they have the money for one. I do like a good ribeye though.

I am only obsessed with one team… Alabama, but because an undefeated Boise State could be a spoiler for UA [getting to the title game] I mentioned them in this post.

Well...
I believe Alabama would be the better fit here, but it’s like the guy at work says and I tend to agree with him “Boise St. goes undefeated..they’ll be in the title game. They just aren’t simply going to keep telling them ‘You aren’t good enough.”
If they beat VT, and Oregon St….they’ll be in the title game, of course that is assuming they run the rest of their schedule and win in dominating fashion as they are expected to do.
Boise St. goes undefeated..they’ll be in the title game.
unless there are 2 undefeated teams from BCS conferences.

…let us be one of ’em….

I think VT’ll beat Boise State.

By double-digits...
BS doesn’t play against strong defenses. They’re number 1 in scoring at 42 points in 2009, but against Oregon and TCU they scored 19 and 17 points respectively.

They still won
I don’t know, I would give the slight edge to VT, but I think it will be a close game.

A reply to Todd above...
We are all trying to figure out why ESPN is so obssessed with the Broncos. They are being aired 5 times not counting post-season play.
VT-great game
La Tech ???
Idaho ??
Fresno St. ?
Nevada ??
"We all look at it not so much as a rebuilding year, but more as a reloading year.." - Greg McElroy
And...
…none of those games are on Saturdays, so it’s not surprising at all. If Boise’s willing to play on Monday, Tuesday and three Fridays, they’re going to get on television.
I have no problem with ESPN picking up their
games, even if they were on Saturday. I might not like the Mid-majors but i think they should get equal opportunity to be on TV.

OMG! Boise will be challenged for sure
this year. Oh wait. Im looking at the Bama schedule. Nevermind.
I hate teams that get to play one real game each year, then “contend” for the championship. Its all bs.
In all fairness what team has played only one “real game” and been in the mix for the big game?
I don’t think Boise will get there this year either. They will have to beat up VT pretty bad and everyone else even badder to have any hope of getting there and I don’t think they will.

They've at least got a bit of a tougher road...
…with Oregon State. They’ve got two tough ones this year.
all they have to do is beat VT...
im not sure they have to beat them bad. Now of course, VT can’t fall off the face of the earth after they lose…that will hurt Boise in the long run.
"You stay bought into it when you see your opponent sucking air and physically failing and you're still fit and ready and you know you own his ass."- Corey Reamer speaking about Coach Cochran
1. They have to beat VT.
2. VT has to go on to have a decent season.
3. There can’t be 2 undefeated BCS teams.
The computer polls
will keep Boise St down (especially since they can’t take margin of victory into account), so they will need a pretty large margin over the 3rd place team in the human polls to make it to the NCG. So even if Boise St. goes undefeated and is voted 1 or 2 in Coaches and Harris polls, there is still a good chance they won’t play for the title, even if there are no other undefeated teams.
