I know there has been Talk of Special Nike Uni.
I'm not sure if this is real but Darbyupthemiddle found it floating around the internet today and showed it to me. If it is true it's not as bad as some of the one's (i.e Florida ) that I have seen. The white helmet is odd. I don't know what would be on this side of it. I really like our uni's and would not like this but it's not as bad as I had feared.

The "crimsons" don't match
between the two jerseys. They aren’t even close.
The number on the away jersey is too small.
Also, the away jersey is completely unbelievable for one simple reason…where is the nike swoosh? As if those guys are ever going to not put their brand front and center out there.
the second one is a...
photo shop spoof…I can’t see hound’s tooth on our jerseys.

I stand corrected...
2006
Wore a commemorative jersey in the game against Ole Miss to honor the 25th anniversary of Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant’s 315th win. The jersey featured houndstooth trim around the collar.

FUCK THAT!
The home jersey looks WAY too much like the MSU uni…If this is true..its a travesty. The away version isn’t all that bad…but not a big enough of a change….So i say No to both.

Actually..
they aren’t so bad. I mean i wouldnt want us to wear them regularly but as a one time thing they aren’t bad
Not as bad as I thought, but I did think "MSU" also.
Glad to see they didn’t incorporate some goofy ass wing-type stitching on the shoulders like the gators last year. I wonder if anyone at the University had veto authority during the design process?
First thing I thought...
Overall, meh. Love, love, love the white helmets, though, and would love to see a white-on-white-on-white mockup, a la Texas or Penn State.
I'm starting to really not care...
as long as we win the game.
But if we lose, I’m totally blaming the unis.
Oh my...
That’s probably the most hideous looking ‘Bama uniform I’ve ever seen in my life. Even those ridiculous Houndstooth collar uniforms we wore against Ole Miss in 2006 looked better than that.
Please let this be nothing more than a rumor… if not, I’m boycotting Nike.
Congratulations to the 2009 SEC and BCS National Champions: The Alabama Crimson Tide! Roll Tide Roll!

I would have to throw away
at least 3/4 of my Alabama wardrobe to boycott Nike!! And I spent A LOT of money putting that wardrobe together!

well according to NationalChamps.net
we did wear white helmets some during a few periods:
“White-shelled helmets were used by Alabama occasionally during both the 1960s, and in 1983 and 1984.”
sorry that was a little weird...
some during a few periods…

I agree w/ skycaster...
The 2nd one looks like someone faked it. And it’s ef’ing terrible…
That being said, in all honesty, the first is actually pretty badass! Do I want to ever see it in a real game? HELL TO THA NO.
Maybe these would be cool for A-day next spring… I mean, why not? Hell, we still put just as many people in the stadium as a real game, ESPN is there, we’re the champs so all will still be watching etc etc etc!
I have too much time on my hands...

…and I suck at photoshop.
looks to be true
Walsh also confirmed it on BOL.
BEAVERTON, Ore. (August 17, 2010) – Ten of the top college football programs have been selected to wear uniquely designed Nike uniforms for at least one game during the 2010 season the company announced today.
The University of Alabama, Boise State University, University of Florida, University of Miami (FL), The Ohio State University, Oregon State University, University of Pittsburgh, Texas Christian University, Virginia Tech and West Virginia University will wear the innovative designs for a minimum of one game on their schedules. The dates of those games will be announced at the unveiling of the uniforms Sept. 1 in New York.
The Nike Pro Combat System of Dress uniforms the schools will wear are engineered to provide superior protection and durability, while utilizing advanced fabrics and tooling that reduce weight.
Nike worked diligently with each university to bring relevant elements of the school’s rich heritage into the futuristic elite fit uniform designs. The collaborations with the universities produced the highly customized uniforms that will be revealed just days prior to the start of the 2010 college football season.
I hope we wear
these stupid uni’s for the GSU game. Maybe Star won’t recognize us as we flatten his rear end.
But seriously I HATE THEM and will not buy anything NIKE for 3 years if this comes to pass. I can live without their junk.
As much as I hate Auburn I hate Tenn. that much more.
supposedly
the unis that are circulating are fakes. there is a template on the internet where you can design your own. note that i said, “supposedly”.
If they're fake
That just means Nike will find a way to make worse looking ones

Yeah it will be
so that the whole country can laugh at how stupid they look.
I am not looking forward to it if this turns out to be true…

In other words, there will be houndstooth. My money says Nike wouldn’t delve further into UA history to find out anything other than that.
FWIW, I hope that if we do make a one-off change, we just go with an authentic retro look. Go back to the look we had in the 1960’s… same pants, crimson jerseys, white numbers on the sleeves, with white helmets.
I don’t want any of this “futuristic” shit where it looks like the Nike truck drove into Tuscaloosa at warp speed and had one hellacious collision with ’Bama Fever and a science fiction film production studio.

I would even be
ok with some of the uni’s from the 50’s or even the 30’s.
But the Nike designed stuff reminds me of a cartoon football game.
As much as I hate Auburn I hate Tenn. that much more.
Agreed.
these fooks need to leave this alone. They won’t because Nike has to have their grubby, track-shoe hands in everything. Hell, the basketball shoes are atrocious, too…they look like Walt Disney puked on em.

Hey I said it could be bullshit
I also don’t poke around the bama sites(well other then RBR) or msg boards that much. If this is as stale as it seems I’m sorry I saw something and posted it.

Well boycott Nike it is then.
The only game I would be willing to let them do this on would be the spring game. Man I hate Nike.
